In this video, we explain 6 principles of oil and water emulsion separation, specific to the oil and gas industry.
An oil and water emulsion refers specifically to the fluid that comes directly from an oil and gas well. When a well is produced, what comes to the surface is a mixture of oil, water, gas, and solids. After the gas has been separated from the liquid, the oil and water that remain must also be separated.
Emulsions in the oil industry are either classified as “water-in-oil“ or “oil-in-water” depending on the ratio of the volume of liquids. Gas brought to the surface is usually “wet gas” composed of dry natural gas like methane mixed with liquid natural gases like ethane and butane. All these components are separated using multiple principles of separation to achieve the desired end products that are considered valuable.

To be honest with you the explanation is great and attractive one , but plz can you prepare another video in which you explain the work of central production facilities . I’m sure that soo many people need an overview about the work of this centre . Thanks in advance .

Very informative! I work for a very large company that has been building production tanks at our location for years and we have begun building separators and pressure vessels. Nice to know how these work outside of production. I do the ASME paperwork which is much more extensive than API.

Can you advise the type of chemical which can be used for hot wash or circulation to clean Crude Oil Storage Tank. I am not sure on the type of chemical to be used. Also, same as the chemical to be diluted in water during hydrojetting for degreasing. Thanks in advance

does water level and burner tube level matter? do you worry about scaling with the water over the burner tubes?
@KimrayInc
@KimrayInc 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, both the maintained liquid level and the burner tube size/placement are important to maintain proper heat transfer. Contaminants in the liquids can cause scaling and/or build up on the fire tube which can lead to premature failures. Regular inspection and maintenance of the burner assembly will help prevent failures.

I’m not familiar with that process, but the principals of specific gravity, heat and retention time could probably be used.

Can you explain Vessel internal electrostatic coalescor system??
@KimrayInc
@KimrayInc 2 жыл бұрын
This may be difficult to explain in a comment here, so if you have other questions, feel free to ask and we will try to help. An electrostatic treater uses electricity to remove dispersed water droplets from oil. The oil is subjected to an electrical field which facilitates better oil-water separation by causing the dispersed water droplets to coalesce and fall to the bottom of the vessel. The electric field also distorts and thus weakens the film of the emulsion surrounding the water droplets. Water droplets dispersed in oil that are subjected to an alternating-current (AC) field become elongated as voltage rises during the first half-cycle. As the droplets are relaxed during the low-voltage part of the cycle, the surface tension pulls them back toward a spherical shape. This effect repeats at a very rapid pace with each cycle, weakening the film so that it breaks more easily when the water droplets collide with one another.

Hi! I am in the process of building a small (4500m3 a year) sludge-water treatment plant. I'm removing heavy metals with coagulants and floculants, ending the process with a bio-reactor. BUT: I have a problem with splitting very oil-poluted water. I need to something to clear the phases. (First step is sedimentation, but I have some process-water that won't clear the oil) Would love some help. Don't mind paying for it. Thanks!
@akbarhasan1929
@akbarhasan1929 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bro, I have experience in produced water and sludge oil treatment. You have to separate the sludge first to make easy oil in water emulsion separation in down stream. Due to rhe sludge has natural emulsifier those thighten the emulsion. After that you may treat the oily water with floc or coagulant chemicals. Thanks

I am working in chemical industry....we have storage tanks , those containg mixture of liquids.(organic and inorganic ).how can we separate both layers..and how to measure levels of both layers in closed tank ?
@KimrayInc
@KimrayInc 3 жыл бұрын
I can’t say how to best separate the materials you are working with as I’m unfamiliar with them but a good way of measuring the liquid levels would be to use a interface sonar level sensor.

Is separating oil from gasoline something that can be done at home or is the process too complex or involves expensive equipment?
@KimrayInc
@KimrayInc Жыл бұрын
The separation of oil and natural gas is not excessively complicated, but to make it profitable, large volumes of resources are needed. Processing oil into different components (gasoline, lubricants, etc.) is complex and needs expensive equipment. Both of these processes are not economical or safe to perform at home.

Hello. What about h2SO4?
@KimrayInc
@KimrayInc 3 жыл бұрын
Hello, unfortunately, we're not able to help much regarding your question. Our immediate staff available was not entirely sure how or when h2SO4 comes into play in our industry. The removal of Hydrogen Sulfite (H2S) from gas is prominent, but not so certain about Sulfuric Acid. If you need more help, feel free to call or email customer support.

I'm very sorry but there's something that confused me about how the density increase with heat while in fact the oil density must be decreased while we increase temp.
@KimrayInc
@KimrayInc 2 жыл бұрын
Heating oil will lower its viscosity, enhancing separation and increasing the density differential between the oil and water.

How in the hell did the oil and water separate so quickly????
@KimrayInc
@KimrayInc 2 жыл бұрын
Ha! The makeup of the well fluid and the conditions you expose them to will determine the speed at which it separates. The jar of oil & water shown in the video is from a well in Oklahoma and was only separating by specific gravity differentials and retention time.
