6 weeks Couchsurfing in IRAN

We travelled to IRAN and spent six weeks with locals by doing Couchsurfing. We soon found out that there’s no reason to be scared because the Iranians are the most hospitable people in the world and so different than their brutal regime.

As an Iranian we have media and I have never seen a single person that doesnt use vpn and whatsapp and Instagram got banned due to protest and before that it wasnt banned

Hey Julia & Sven, Thanks for the nice video. I’m an Iranian who has moved to Germany. What I liked most about your video was that it was realistic without too much sugarcoating, nor making it sound super scary, which makes it an almost accurate representation of the country. While i had hosted many Couchsurfers in Iran. after i moved to Germany, I found that Unfortunately many travelers use it as a way just Not to pay for accommodation. Which once if you would like to stay with these travelers then you are not able to find them anymore because they don’t use application anymore or easily ignoring to answer you.

the weather is really diverse. In the south, near Persian gulf, it is super hot, so you can a delightful winter! In the north, it is Mediterranean so you can imagine (like spain, italy, greece) in the middle, where you have mountainous cities, you have cold weather, so the summer is not hot. Sometimes you can find two cities in just 100km distance with 15C difference in temp because of altitude.

Can you guys tell me when you traveled to Iran? Honestly, the story you are telling is to me pre-mahsa say would have been a couple of years ago and obsolete. Now, pretty much no girl is following the hijab rules in public i.e. they dress up pretty much similar to Europe with no hijab. Please educate yourself a bit before telling anyone about the status quo in Iran.
