Easiest but usually more expensive is to just buy a short bed in the first place! The short beds are so popular everyone is cutting down the long bed trucks . Great tips for all the procedures to get great results! Thanks David!!

Now I'm wishing that I had a 60-66 gm truck. Oh well, I have a '68 and a '76, so I'm happy. Here's a helpful tip. Cut on the inside lines of the tape. The reason is if you cut on the outside edge of the tape you're removing an additional 1/8" or so of material because of the blade with, also called Kerf. I love that Dave is using a Harbor Freight tape measure, just like us working class guys.
@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV2 жыл бұрын
Agree, but as long as you are cuttng on the same side of both pieces of tape the extra width of the blade/kerf makes a good gap for the panel clamps.

I love the welding videos, because they apply to everything. I could watch an hour of just welding tips and tricks honestly. 2 hours even. You've helped me so much on my non Chevy build.

Basically my options when buying a project truck were shortening it like this and changing out the rear window for the large one, or dealing with a truck that had those options and a little more rust. Smh, budgets. I chose to deal with some rust instead. lol Thanks for the video!

Maybe i missed it but where is the best place to cut the frame ? Great video's Dave
@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV Жыл бұрын
We always use a BROTHERS Conversion Kit when cutting the frame. We have many videos on that kit here on our channel and they have links directly to the product.

@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV you say you want to save every truck ever made, but are showing how to cut up a perfectly good long wheel base pickup? I like the long wheel base trucks. My truck isn't a show piece, and I do handyman work all the time for the aging population of my small community. I like to be able to put plywood in the bed of my truck and close the tailgate. Looks like you ruined a perfectly good original bed panel to me.

I know I'm late to this party but , why did you cut out 20 inches (12 + 8 ) when there is only a 18 inch difference between long and short beds ? 8 ft. Vs 6 1/2 ft. Thanks .

👍 Good Job . So David do you recommend 0.23 wire for just patch panel work repair like for example a outer rocker repair
@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV2 жыл бұрын
.23 works fine for most sheetmetal repair.
