​@p8ryot I was an Army Ranger. To be a Ranger instructor, you had to be in a Ranger unit and graduated Ranger school.

He was in the 25th Infantry Division stationed at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, his entire enlistment, Army Ranger School is at Fort Benning, Georgia. He got an early honorable discharge, as a private first class, because he was a single father, after serving two years, and two months.

@@marktwain2053well actually there are rangers stationed at Schofield. I was stationed there in the 80’s. When new soldiers arrived, they would send us to “Light Fighters Course “. It’s a week long training course. Some instructors were airborne rangers stationed there to teach the course. Now I’m not saying Ice whatever was or wasn’t a ranger, just clarifying. And there was also Ranger Indoctrination Program (RIP). Also trained by rangers.

Jimmie Stewart was US Army air force, not post war USAF, he flew several combat mission in ETO. Paul Newman seved in the US NAVY as aerial rear gunner ( Avenger or Helldiver)

Honest question. I thought all military was 4 year enlistment. How did some of these guys only do 1 or two years? Any person who is in or was in any military has my complete respect.

I was told that Montel Williams was in the Navy "not" the Marines !! So which one is it , was he a Sailor, or a Marine ?

He was both. I believe he enlisted in the Marines, was accepted into Officer Training and became an Officer in the Navy.
