The final video on the series of building our DIY violin kit, inspired by the TwoSetViolin video on these $60 DIY violin kits! 🎻
It's finally done! 'Crispy' the sacrilegious DIY violin is finished, and put to the test! 😄
Not only that, but we will give this violin away to one of our viewers! Below are the giveaway rules...
(which are also explained in the video)
____________________________________
RULES for the 'Sacrilegious DIY Violin' "Crispy" GIVEAWAY:
1) To be eligible to enter this sweepstake, you must be at least 18 years of age or older, and live in the continental 48 United States (exclusions: Alaska/Hawaii, US Protectorates, APO/FPO, PO Box) and have an address also in the United States that does not fall into one of the above exclusions.
2) In order to enter the giveaway, you must LEAVE A COMMENT in the comments section of THIS VIDEO, that starts with the words "I want the violin!" (without the quotation marks). NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY. Your comment must be followed by a bit of 'flavor text', stating whether you are a violin player or want to learn the violin or simply would like a violin for whatever reason. The words "I want the violin!" are absolutely necessary to be spelled out as shown (without the quotation marks), but your flavor text can be anything you want, the contents won't affect your odds of winning. Do not give personal information on KZbin comments!
(odds of winning depend on the number of people to enter the sweepstake)
3) A winner will be randomly selected from this video's comments section on 12/13/2020 during a Live Stream on this channel (SculptyWorks) starting at 4pm Eastern Standard Time (GMT -5). Should there be any technical difficulties that prevent the Live Stream or drawing from happening live on that date, the drawing will take place as soon as possible and a video will be posted with it as soon as possible. It is NOT necessary to participate on the Live Stream to be eligible to win.
4) The winner will be contacted via reply to the winning comment and KZbin username disclosed publicly in video along with the winning comment. The winner must claim the prize within 7 days of that date, by contacting us via e-mail with KZbin username, legal name, address, and confirm that you are 18 or older. If the prize goes unclaimed, a new winner will be chosen. The prize is offered "as is" with no guarantees or warranties of any kind. No substitutions. No monetary value. KZbin is not responsible nor associated with this sweepstake.
The violin will be shipped to the winner as soon as possible. Due to current public health concerns, there may be shipping delays.
____________________________________
...wow that was a lot of lawyer-talk! ...even after I toned it down to make it more 'human'. 😉
So that's it! Leave a comment as described above if you want to enter the giveaway, leave a comment if you have any questions, leave a comment if you just want to say something, we love to hear from the viewers! ❤

Amazing job. Unfortunately I’m not from the US. Surprisingly the violin looks exactly as I imagined it and I love it. In my opinion it’s more beautiful with this dark shade. Also all the imperfection of the wood makes it so special. I’m a violinist and it would be an honour to get such a unique violin, but it can’t help and I absolutely understand your reasons for not give it away to other continents. Anyway, I enjoyed this content very much. I hope crispy will belong to a talented violinist. Thank you for sharing your work. I’m looking forward for the next videos.

Give this violin away is a so good idea and a so generous action! @@SculptyWorks Kinda, but not really for me, because it's leaning against my knees, and I'm not hanging on it (sorry for my poor explanation, I'm still learning English) What I call hugging my harp is when I'm standing next to it, and I put my arms above. I want the violin! I started violin in the fourth grade at my elementary school. I played up until halfway through 6th grade when we moved out of state and my new school didn’t offer a strings/orchestra program, only band. Since my family wasn’t in a position to financially support private lessons, my violin days came to a sad and premature end. Fast forward some years later and here I find myself captivated by the violin world once again. Enough to watch with utter delight the birth of dear Crispy. Judging by how much time I spend watching others play violin, it may just be time for me to get back into it myself and cheer up that sad little 6th grader in me who let go before she was ready. Crispy would be a great companion on that journey together. Either way though, thank you for doing this series! It was really fascinating to watch it go from a pile of parts to an actual playable instrument. Very cool!

I want the next violin! Matching the grain of the ribs...A sharpy then feather it immediately with your finger....very quickly!.....works nice on gun stocks to match grain in a faux way. I don't know how it will work with varnish but it works nicely with polyurethane if you put the first coat on very lightly and let it dry before additional coats. So you don't smear it. Great video....thanks.....I do the same thing to cheap chinese guitars from a pawn shop......love making a 30.00 guitar into something that plays like a million bucks.

I want the violin! I want the violin! I want the violin! I want the violin! I am a 55-year-old professional symphony orchestra tuba player who would like to learn to play the fiddle pretty badly as I head toward my retirement. I have my own repair shop for brass instruments and have a deep appreciation for recycled instrument parts (Let them live again!), homebrew instruments, and people who build things with their own hands. I love woodworking but have never considered luthier work despite years of servicing stringed instruments, and your video series on Crispy has made me want to look into learning this craft, which is an extension into something I already do. I have a love for specialized hand tools, too. I play the upright bass on the side and would love to own my own carefully crafted violin, despite (or perhaps because of) the questionable origin of its parts. I think you did a wonderful job with this instrument. I love instruments like this. I am currently taking a nearly destroyed student tuba and creating a very nice professional instrument out of its parts. What I am doing with it, what you did with Crispy, is fascinating work for me. Perhaps I will use it to motivate me to build my own instrument, which would be a 17" viola for my chunky fingers. So… Pick me! Pick me! ;-) Seriously, sir, you did some excellent work on Crispy, turning dubious wood into something with a beautiful voice. You learned a lot in the process. What could be better than that? Stay healthy and virus-free. I will keep watching your videos. Cheers from Mississippi!

Thank you! And it's wonderful that you give a new life to instruments. That's probably 90% of what luthiers do, unless it's someone specialized in building new instruments /only/! The bread-and-butter of a violin shop is the low-cost rentals, and repairs. 😉

I want the violin! I've always wanted to properly learn the violin. I also love how dark crispy turned out. I have a preference for darker woods in general so it looks amazing.

I want the violin! I learned so much watching your series on building Crispy and I’ve been learning more about music since COVID happened. I would love a chance to learn a string instrument! Thanks for doing this!

I want the violin! I have been watching Crispy's transformation from caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly and I would love to be able to enjoy Crispy's company. I dont own a violin nor have I ever even touched one but I have always wanted to learn. This would be an amazing opportunity since I don't I could buy a violin any time in the near future if ever. Crispy is beautiful! Thanks for taking us on this journey and for gifting the community!

I want the violin! I don't currently play the violin, but ever since I've stumbled across your channel I've began listening to more pieces with violin and classical music in general. It's been really inspiring seeing this violin come to life and it would really be amazing if this violin would be the start of my musical journey!

It certainly sounded much better than I would have expected when watching video 1!! WOW!!! The last part where it is in the hands of a violinist, being played, actually made me very emotional! 💕

I'm amazed at what you have been able to accomplish with that kit. I am especially amazed at the finish. I have built several string instruments and I always had trouble with the finish. Thanks for sharing this video.

I want the violin! I really enjoyed this series of videos, especially the making of the bass bar and using the tea and vibration. I am a guitar player and have recently expanded my interest to the violin. I think that your decision to go with the darker coloring was a good one...it actually looks great. Your attention to detail turned that cheap kit into a nice sounding instrument. Keep up the great work!

I want the Violin, even though its long past the cast that was foretold here. It is a marvelous sounding piece, and am certain it went to a good home somewhere. Just goes to show with some skills and proper tools even a substandard DIY can be made to behave as a proper instrument should. The lady at the last was the very best part with her assurances of success. Have a Most Happy 2022!
