One of the best known elements of Kant's ethical philosophy is his so-called Categorical Imperative. In this discussion, Gore briefly summarizes the major ideas of the principle, and then offers a brief critique of Kant's overall thought.

Thank you for these I was really struggling with Kant, but watching these has made him digestible.

It is surprising to see that the self refuting philosopher has become so famous. May be because he has given the mind as the center point to the humans that has changed the view of philosophy that was existing till then. Thank you very much for the valuable lecture professor Gore.

Mr. Gore, I'm very interested in this topic of dethroning Kant for the sake of true knowledge of what is, would you recommend me some books or personalities to look into?

Kant didn't know about the role of the ventro-medial prefrontal cortex in prosocial behaviour. If he did, he wouldn't have to worry about noumenal sources for morality.

Don’t you think that Kant justifies the universality of his categories by saying there must be a God, even if he cannot know God? And don’t you think that he would say that even if we don’t know the numenal directly, that that doesn’t necessarily mean that there isn’t any causation in the numenal? Also, although he’s kinda way out there, wouldn’t he say that a good will is one that obeys the laws of its own freedom? and wouldn’t that make good Christian sense, in the sense that after we use our freedom to trust and obey and be happy in Jesus that He will say to us, “well done, My good and faithful servant”?

From what I’ve taken from other videos I’ve seen on Kant, it seems like he took the “Golden Rule,” made it sound complicated, then gave it a pseudo-intellectual name, and acted like he cured cancer. I don’t like him at all. Maybe I don’t understand him, and I don’t feel my time is worth spending working though his nonsense. I’ll probably watch your lecture on him though, because you’re one of the few people who can really teach. For now though, I “can’t” take Kant. I think he’s a babbling jackass; maybe I’m the jackass, but I just don’t have the patience for him.
