Truly Immanual Kant had changed the whole concept of the entire philosophy like Copernicus did in the Austronomy. Great revolutionist indeed. Thanks for the lecture Professor Gore.

Great lecture. It seems to me that Kant, with his twelve jars, is merely describing a blank slate in profuse detail. A blank slate, after all, has the form of slate, which can be marked and therefore contain writing, as a jar might contain fruit. A blank slate is also flat, allowing for writing to occur, just as a jar has an opening into which fruit may fall. In the end, nothing of value is advanced, simply by detailing the features of a blank slate. It's still an argument for tabula rasa. It still leaves open the question of who designed the slate, who made the jars, and why we all have these same jars.

If Kant is responsible for the way people "think" today, well, that's "evidence" enough for me that he's a philosophical quack. The guy who fell asleep was smarter than the rest, the only way Kant makes any sense is in a dreamworld, not this world.

I have a question about the jars and your statement that it would lead to a theistic proof. With today's knowledge, and given that he's a bit of an empiricist, wouldn't it be logical to say, "we all have the same jars because our brains are physically pretty much the same."? Also, I think I've only read the moral grounding and the books that followed from there, which one is this coming from? Critique of Pure Reason?

You know Liebnitz is due. I don't know if you've done him. I heard he was a great man

Watershed: An area or ridge of land that separates waters flowing to different rivers, basins, or seas. Perhaps in terms of Kant he represents the split between analytic & continental (phenomenological) philosophy?

Watershed also means an event or period marking a turning point in a course of action or state of affairs.

Only problem is the distracting authoritarian mood and potentially racist or at least non-circumspect statements (“I will lynch you”) in this lecture.
