Two Birds Yoga

This is a 60 minute restorative yoga class to help you surrender, let go and find ease. Deeply restorative, uncomplicated postures that allow you to gently unwind and relax. Ideal if you're feeling fatigued, overwhelmed, pre sleep or just need some refuge. In this practice, we explore the yoga concept of Sattva; finding ease, peace and equanimity. The only essential props required is a blanket and a yoga block or large book. Optional extras (if you have them: a yoga bolster and eye pillow). I hope you really enjoy this and emerge feeling calm and centered.

Thank you, I did this class last night and is was a very lovely relaxing and restorative class. I would recommend it to anyone that just wants to sink into themselves and get all stress out of the body and mind.

Thank you so much. Good one hour restorative classes are quite hard to find online. Having recently done a couple of your other classes online, Fiona, I knew with your calming voice and clear instructions, this would be a good one. It did not disappoint! Really appreciate your efforts not to give too much attention on the set-up of props.

Good evening though I did this in the morning! Try to figure that out! I just wanted to say today was a very sad day for me! I felt a bit better armed to face the challenges by going to the mat! Going to the mat is hard when there is turbulence in your life! But I have found that going to the mat is much better than NOT going to the mat! I am grateful for Two Birds!❤️🥰🙏😘🧘🏻‍♀️

My husband of forty three years passed away today! It was a relatively short illness but he had multi factors that complicated his outcome! Surrender, Let Go, find ease! That has to be my mantra going forward! He would always ask…Are you doing yoga? And I would say “ yes” come join us. He would politely say no thank you! Honestly, I am pretty strong! Forty three years together is no slouch! ( do you understand that term😀) But I am in new territory! I know yoga is not the whole answer but it will help me going forward! Once again, I am grateful! ❤️🥰🙏

Great practice! I so agree with you that many instructors are too busy with elaborate prop arrangement and it begins to feel more like building with blocks or Legos rather than a yoga sequence. This was much more seamless and organic, going immediately into poses that just feel right. You have a great voice!

Thanks so much x our yoga props are from a company called stretch now. The bolster I’m using is 70 cm long. It’s quite firm and I find comfortable as I have a long torso. I’m 5 foot 10. Thank you very much for this lesson, much needed at this crazy & hurting week! Two questions: What is this "barrier reflex" you mention around ShoulderStand, is that a gateway reflex, & could you point me towards literature on this, here tou got my professional interest piqued, apart from all the neuroplastic work you teach? Secondly: Have you ever considered publishing the soundfiles of your lessons, just as they are, as podcast epidsodes? Was searching around for reasonable yoga podcasts, didn't find much of substance, to be honest. Now, just as I went up into 8Angles towards my right side, you said "...now allow yourself to linger here for the next minute..", I laughed out loud & promptly fell over...I think I made it up to several seconds..?, & I thought, nit for the first time, these soundfiles alone would make an absolute magnificent podcast, no editing, nothing, just as they are, -so many here praise your voice, what & how you say it, it'd be perfect! ❤️🙏🏻

You’ve most likely heard of it ? Apologies for delay in responding… I’ve been off the grid hiking through Cape Otway national park with one of my daughters :-) I have thought to publish the audio only version of the classes… is that what you mean? You know, if you click on the class description, I’ve noticed KZbin now offer a transcript of the class. It’s mostly correct - just a few Siri mistakes. @@TwoBirdsYoga Just now found the time to check that link you provided - yes, that reflex function was known to me, its pathological developments all the more, I admit. Alas, in a yoga context, I wouldn't overinterpret such vegetative homöostasis relations, it's mostly the reflexive format of breathing patterns in relation to effort, which you emphasize sooften & which drive pressure relations in the blood system. 🙏🏻

Would you be able to explain that a little further? The baroreceptors modulate BP to achieve balance. When upside down, the baroreceptors would report higher pressure to the brain…. The brain would then increase parasympathetic activity to find homeostasis? Is that not calming?

It’s so fascinating… I’ve been reading more. An inversion would have an impact on the vagus nerve too. And would also calm the reticular formation. And as you say, our breathing pattern would all contribute to switching on PSN activity. The baroreceptors seem less responsible for this state. Is that what you’re saying?

Enjoyed starting this practice but didn't realize that it was going to be yin, not restorative.

My understanding of restorative vs yin is in Yin Yoga, there is an active stretch but in Restorative Yoga, the goal is to be 100% supported and passive with no active stretch. I would say this class is more on the restorative end of the spectrum. Would be interested to hear your point of view... as it’s not my regular practice teaching it :-) appreciate your feedback 🙏

@@TwoBirdsYoga You are right, restorative is no active stretch, so the first pose, reclined bound angle, was definitely restorative. Melting heart and sphinx are yin poses.
