If you are implying that law enforcement didn’t do enough, allow me to tell you that it is almost impossible bc of the depth and complexity this type of business posses. No way to take them all. You take as much as you can without disturbing the research done by law enforcement. Plus, you can only arrest when you have enough to convict bc if not, you are wasting prosecutor’s time and resources. A law enforcement agent need to know the depth so that they can act accordingly... so no, they can’t take all drug dealers and ppl involved (even if they want, they can’t) or your IR will reach a dead end.

Kratom is legal in most states and helps with pain. I've been taking it since 2016 when I have back pain. It works very well and you can't overdose on it. Different strains help with different needs. Its 100% organic.

I’m a recovering addict of heroin/ fentanyl. The sad reality is that an addict will do whatever it takes to get their drug of choice. Whether it’s going to a corner in the neighborhood, getting it brought to them by a dealer, or going online and getting it sent to their house.. we can fight and fight and fight and pass laws and make restrictions but we have to start with the addict. Get them help right away. Get them rehabilitated as soon as possible. Addict need as much support as they can get from family friends and even peoples they wouldn’t expect to help them. Please, I beg you, if you know an addict PLEASE understand they have a disease and that the stealing, lying, and everything else that comes along with it is their disease. An addict’s v addiction comes first no matter what. Please stop the stigma and help your loved on be the person they were when they weren’t sick. Everyone deserves help, and everyone deserves chances. Help save a life, it doesn’t take as much time and energy as you think. Please. And god bless every single addict and family member who’s lost someone they love. We can all make this world a better place if we open our hearts up and see what the real problems are.Thank you all.

Yup, now instead of users and distributors buying the product straight from China, now that DC forced China to “crackdown”, the Chinese factories now just produce all of the precursors, instead of the final product itself, straight to cartels in Mexico, ready for quick manufacture. This has, along with other factors, helped to dramatically increase the levels of cartel violence, so now in addition to an overdose epidemic, we also have a rapidly evolving threat to national security. I’m no libertarian, but this seems like the sort of problem those guys love to point out where the government only seems to be able to make things worse (and don’t forget that it was the federal crackdown on prescribers that caused swarms of people to turn to street opioids in the first place). I guess to look on the bright side, the pandemic forced them to lower the barriers to entry for medication assisted treatment and certain harm reduction programs, which is at least a small step in the right direction.

My son died 5 years ago from overdosing at a party on a line of cocaine mixed with fentanyl. The friends freaked out and left him in his car to die. He was a great kid. Prom king, scholar, and signed a baseball scholarship. Well loved guy. This stuff kills FIRST TRY. Not a day goes by our family doesn't think of him. My heart goes out to all affected. My ex-wife went on an information crusade to stock Narcan kits in every police car in her surrounding counties and educate about Georgia's Amnesty law which gives legal immunity to people calling for help in an overdose situation. ALL STATES MUST HAVE A VERSION OF THIS LAW!!! God bless all the unfortunate souls out there...

I did not leave his side no matter how much he told me it was hopeless until he went to rehab and came back a year later. I thought he was going to be ok after that, because he came to my work to see me and he was sober. It was one of the happiest moments of my life seeing him smile back at me, looking healthy. Sadly I was distracted with other things so that is the only time I was there for him after rehab. That will always be my biggest regret in life.

@@firefightergoggie If prohibition ended, people wouldn't need to use fentanyl. They could use safer things like opium, methadone, buprenorphine, oxycodone, kratom, or even heroin. And those drugs could be sold in measurable doses from reputable sources, most likely reducing overdoses to a fraction of what they are today. Nobody does fentanyl because they WANT to. They do it because the DEA has outlawed every other more preferable (and safer) substance. Look up the "iron law of prohibition". It says that as prohibition increases, drugs just get smaller, easier to transport, more potent, and therefore more dangerous. The drug war had it's run and it obviously failed. You said it yourself, 47k people dies last year alone. Time to try something new that science actually supports.

There is an easy and obvious fix. Make ALL drugs completely legal and cheaply available at pharmaceutical grade to all citizens of age. Black market goes byebye and all the money spent on the war on drugs can be spent on helping those with problems that want help. Decriminalization in Oregon was a nice first step I guess but full legalization with high quality drugs cheaply and easily available while simultaneously helping actual addicts reconnect with the world would be a proper solve along with some serious progress on the psychedelic research that will likely be a helpful part of treating those that want help

I've had both oxycodone and fentanyl. Both for gall bladder. After a really bad gall bladder attack that persisted for weeks they gave me fentanyl in the ER. It was like a miracle. All the pain was gone, just totally gone, in about 15 minutes. The oxy was the painkiller for after the subsequent op to remove the gall bladder. I knew when I took the first one how addictive it was. If you have never had it, I can tell you it feels fantastic. I can see why people seek it out. I never sought it out afterwards though, I just finished the prescribed course and never took it again. I often wonder why I didn't get addicted when so many do. What tips the scale?

@@Livetoeat171 I agree with you, but I wouldn't be so cocky as to suggest I am stronger because I didn't get addicted. Perhaps I was just lucky, and in a good place in my life at that time? What I do know is that these substances are highly addictive, from personal experience. For me, taking oxycodone was nothing but pure pleasure. I loved it. And that's the problem, I can see how easy it is to get seduced by that feeling.

I was addicted to fentanyl, it is such a hard drug to get off of. It's so addicting. I went from having 15 thousand in my savings account to being in the negative $700 every two weeks after I got my paycheck. I'm finally off this stuff. I'm on methadone and I'm doing good trying to get out of the negative still. I know I will do it I just have to stay strong and not associate with those people again. I feel for everyone that has lost family members to this disgusting drug that has flooded the streets.

This is whate the media is stretching the truth. There is a difference between this fentanyl coming in from overseas and a pharmaceutical grade fentanyl Duragesic patch. This poision they are shipping in from China cant be measured in a measured dose Just by touching or even breathing this poision could release a massive fatal dose into the blood stream. A Duragesic fentanyl patch availible by a prescription is fda approved for cancer patients that are tolerant to other pain medications. Duragesic can also be prescibed of label for chronic pain patients that are tolerant to other pain medications or to surgical patients on a limited y treatment who need contiuos 24hr pain control. These patches release a measure dosage of fentanyl by transdermal route in micrograms per hour and continues to release the medication into the bloodstream over 72 hoirs. This prescription is not intended what so ever for patients who are opioid naive. These patches are a lifeline for patients with chronic cancer pain or other painful non-cancer disease processes when other opioid pain medications have lost their efficacy for the pain symptoms these patients suffer with daily. When this type of narcotic medication is prescibed the physican making the decision to use Duragesic for a patient has a list of criteria the patient needs to meet before they can dwtermine if a patient is an appropriate candidate for this type of pain treatment to be considered. New laws being enforced across the country in the wake of this opioid crisis which has already began changing the way physicians are choosing treatment for pain syndromes. Criteria for patients with the greatest need for opioid medication management is being thoroughly evaluated before their treatment begins and reevaluated periodically throughout the course of their treatment. Patients with pain symptoms not meeting criteria are considered poor candidates for opiod therapy and other tailored modalities of pain treatments will be given to these patiemts. When these modalities are effectively reducing pain in this patient population then opiod therapy is not appropriate. Upon reevaluation of these patients opiod therapy may beconsidered if the patient is no longer reponding to conservative treatment modalities and meets the criteria for medication management. The stigma of the opiod crisis is still a scar on the American conscious; however, the healthcare area has changed dramatically and patients reciving opiods for chronic pain are now reciving treatment under the guidelines of new scrict laws which are geared toward proper practice and treatment guidlines which protect patients and their physicians. These patients should not be demonized and neither should their physicians when laws and appropriate medical practice is being followed. Patients who need treatment with opiod pain medications need this therapy just like a cancer patient needs chemotherapy drugs or like a transplant patient needs immunosuppressive medications to keep their transplanted organ from rejection. Chronic pain patients should not be criticized as addicts and they deserve medical treatment with opiods beacuse its an appropriate medical treatment for them. It's unfortunate that the healthcare system and the pharmaceutical companies failed so many patients in years past. Patients prescribed pain medicine inappropriately found themselves looking to the streets and black markets once their treatments were abrubtly stopped. This is a serious problem that didnt have to occur at all when physicians can and should have safely stopped these patients treatments slowly overtime and with opiod replacement therapy when nessesary.. There would be a huge decline of patients turning to the streets for cheep illicit drugs. Our government can turn the tide of this epidemic without compromising pain management for the patients that absolutley need it to live a better life. There are citizens of this country that have never needed medical treatment for pain but they have found themselves in the grips of addiction to opioifs like Heroin and every other type of illicit drug that flood into our cities and most of our neighaboirhods. How did any of them have any kind of chance being free of an addiction when the are overexposed to the flood of narcotocs into the country. The government needs to think very radically. Thid isny hust a war on drugs this is an invasion targeting American lives. These are our family members and our friemds losing their lives to a foreign invader. These people need our help and if we dont find a way to do that this tradgedy will inly continue with our children and our grandchildren to come. These people caught up in the throws of addiction can no longer help themselvescan we really afford to continue to look the other way because, if we continue this crisis status quo then we are lost..

My ex died partially due to drugs, however; I worry that good things that come from China will be blocked because they want to prevent very bad things like fentanyl. Herbalists have trouble getting 'Ma huang' (herb that ephederine is made from) out of worry that methamphetamine will be made. Clean steroids aren't legal in the US, so people were getting clean steroids from China; now they're lucky if they can get real steroids made in a lab and not an unclean substance or one that doesn't contain the amount of the steroid they ordered. Psychedelics have great psychological and spiritual benefits, but these have been illegal in the US for decades and it's hard to get them from China (Obama banned psychedelic 'research chemicals' "thanks Obama" sarcasm.) I praise DC for decriminalizing mushrooms and Oregon for decriminalizing everything, though I do think that those on opioids should spend 1 week in jail and be offered 90 days in rehab (that the addict pays for by working in customer service for a variety of products while in rehab.)
