The original Broadway production with Anita Baker was critically acclaimed and the TV movie version was awesome as well. The bad part they are talking about is the original movie.

@@_swesters_ who knows hun. I’m sure u can tell by watching it that it was extremely expensive to make and for whatever reason nobody went to go see it. So it lost millions for the studio. I think people went in expecting something as magical as Wizard or Is and The Wiz is a completely different movie. I know one of the biggest criticisms was the fact that a 35 year old Diana Ross was trying to portray a 16 year old Dorothy. Lol. I remember thinking she was Auntie Ems sister the first time I saw it. Anyways none of it really matters now cause it’s a classic and will forever be considered a classic.
