I completely agree with you 100%...you stated nothing but facts, you’ve been a collector for years and I’ve only been collecting for almost a year and I started collecting based on what I remember from my childhood and what they are doing is going to make Barbie go out of business because of the business decisions they make that are flat out bad every single time for the past decade

Correct!! And I think that designers and creators are not the problem, the problem is the people that aprove and decide what and how things will be made (sadly they care about cutting costs and sales)

I personally like fashionistas but like you I am frustrated that we aren’t getting some high end barbies and kens. The #BarbieStyle Instagram is a big tease. Like you I also love BMR1959 and Barbie Xtra.

You are so right. The anniversary dolls are a shame. In my youth I had the Rocker Derek, Great Shape Ken and Jogging Ken. I´ve got a collection witih over 700 Barbies and her family and friends, playsets clothes whatever. I wish they would give us, the collectors, a better Ken. The Collectible-Barbies from the last years are also not better. But I love the BMR´s and the Extra Dolls. And I´ve got another wish: Please, please bring Steffie-Face back and away with Millie.

This was very detailed and insightful. My main disappointment with the anniversary Ken was that he wasn't even in the original retro Beach outfit with the jacket. I wish he was sold in that along with a 2nd daytime or evening look.

Yes! Something better because this just makes me think they got lazy and just put out that silkstone Ken to try and make collectors “happy” :/

I feel you, I expected nothing from Mattel and I was still let down. Fashionistas are ugly af (to me) and the BMR line while decent is not my thing, so I just gave up. I've been buying vintage Ken dolls (boxed and unboxed) as well as Fashion Avenue clothes and that's good enough for me, it's certainly better than paying for another uninspired fashionista with poorly made clothes. Ugh.

I believe flocked hair Ken was only produced for one year. They released the molded hair one a year of two later.
