He isn't browbeating her rather he is provoking her and I'm sure he has her permission to do so :) It is a journalistic tactic to extract sharp content and a very effective one. This interview is so effective and Ms Jaisingh is able to lead us to such critical tenets that remind this nation who we really are, as defined by the Constitution and not the malicious, lowly consciousness that this dispensation is trying to turn us into, is because of this very provocation. Ms Jaisingh is such a righteous and stellar voice.

Another very intrusive but very enjoyable interview, because on the table across Karan Thapar was a very intelligent as well as humane person and above that- a woman (by Gods grace they have a more feeling heart). With age I have now been able to understand a little of what Lord Krishna said in Gita - In this world there are two types of powers "Aasuri" & "Devi". They both reside in each of us in differing proportion irrespective of how much well read or अंगूठा छाप ; well known or unknown ; powerful or ordinary we may be. And simultaneously, some of our actions are also guided by the chair that we are occupying. Even Karan Thapar would have been a little different than what he appears to be, had he not been sitting on that chair when conducting the interview.
