@@nickwhite6717 and the stock block would fail. A stock OM606 in turbo guise is pushing a compression ratio of 22.0:1, a stock 2JZ turbo is 8.5:1. The non turbo is 25.0:1, both share the same block, so you can see the kind of strength that Mercedes engineered into it at the time.

I prefer the home garage code because they are more relatable, plus, people tend to really personalize their home shops more than a large shop. I guess that's not important, but I love seeing how different people setup their work environment and how they express themselves with stickers, banners, etc. I feel like someone should build the ultimate bombproof cross-country or overlander rig and just make a series traveling across america, visiting people's shops, helping them with their projects while also borrowing tools to fix their own. I think that's the way life should be... Allow the passion to bring people together and help one another out

I definitely prefer a home build but I like a shop like yours too, it still seems achievable to a normal person. A big shiny shop isn’t something most people can see themselves in but a little industrial unit with a lift they bought used and some mismatched tools isn’t too far fetched.

I like a little bit of both. I like the home builds because they more closely represent what I could do in my own garage if I wasn't so lazy and I like the shop builds because I like to see what people with real skill can turn out with the right tools. Let's be honest too that no one working in a fully outfitted shop is saying "Man, I wish I didn't have this lift in and all these cool tools in here so it would feel like my home garage again"! Plus like someone mentioned below, once you have several hundred thousand subs you will need a bigger shop to keep the content flowing.

the at home builds are more relatable, because most of us have been there. doing more with less is cool, but when the business I was working with was able to upgrade to a bigger building. or any building, we were working outside in Wisconsin before that. having a lift to work under was night and day. especially when we were fabricating, installing drive trains that didn't belong in midsize GM products. We had been using 5/6 ft. steel saw horses to put the cars on using a Bycirus Eire Crane that had tracks. and using the same crane to drop in the engine and trans combo. needless to say we were working a little rustic. we were charging a $1000 to do V8 swaps in 78-87 GM G-body cars. We were using engine and trans combo's from early 70's GM full size cars. didn't matter the make, whatever we had went in. we had someone that would hang out after hours drinking beer. shorten and balance all of our drive shafts right onsite. just 2 guys working part time, we both had day jobs. Could do at least one a week and start on the next one.

Bro, it doesn't matter if you shoot the rebuild in a parking lot, it doesn't matter if its a home or shop build. What matters is the content and keeping peoples interest. If people can relate to what you are doing at any given moment without being bored, that's half the battle, the other half is being straight up. Forget the shop, not everyone even got access to a home garage. Keep it light and entertaining, give people a reason to smile, laugh and subscribe, a lift would be nice but we can't have it all. I came here to see a rice burner get a shot of testosterone , now I'm curious and just clicked subscribe , see.., too easy ..now the rest is up to you, good luck with the build👍👍

@@patrickibarra2191 lower revs on a diesel engine have more of a grunt than a petrol engine does. This is because of the high compression diesel engines carry hence diesel motors have such a high NM reading on the dyno than a petrol does. Diesel fuel burns via compression and petrol needs spark that itself tells you how much pressure diesel engines hold. More compression = more power, but I personally don't like the smell, smoke & sounds diesels engines produce, I have both petrol and diesel modified engines in my cars one for one nonetheless the diesels are good for short courses in my opinion they catch the power close to N/A engines would do again that's my opinions hope you learnt something 👍🏼 at least someone will.... maybe 🤷🏽‍♂️

I used subframe spacers for my 2J swap into my 77 celica, shouldn't be an issue as long as the steering and suspension geometry are looked at after... I did 2" but the CD009 was so massive that was my best option. I still had to build a new tunnel. The garage builds are cool, but there is no shame in using the shop with the lift. Most all of us would prefer the shop with lift and it gives you all a better oportunity to detail the build vs laying on your back trying to explain something under the car that is hard to capture on video.
