Whoa!!: So many thanks guys for such an in- depth video showing your gorgeus OM606 'transplant surgery'. (ER/ ICU ex- Military MD here..). Truly a masterfully skilled work on that Nissan Y61. (I still keep my late Dad's 1.984 K160 Patrol, original, 95% restored, P40 petrol motor. It just needed clutch press+ disc + one rear axle bearing when I had it's powertrain fully checked 13 yrs ago). Lately, I've been witnessing a consistently growing demand on those Merc.B OM606 powerplants. I'd probably try to get a short wheel base Y60 ~ '98 and swap its 4.2 liter petrol i6 for an OM606. Plz keep up your great work + amazing videos coming!.

It's because the Brits and Aussies don't have their head up their asses and do stuff for views on youtube. They do stuff proper good, the first time. Everyone should be that way. But unfortunately it doesn't matter how good you are to be successful on youtube. You only have to be popular and do dumb stuff for people to watch

Australians aren't all that different from the Americans in that they love to LS swap anything they can fit one into haha there are still a fair few Japanese tuned diesels in Australia too but a lot of the Patrols also get swapped with GM Duramax diesel V8s

Even if I wasn't a derv fan, this video would still have got a like from me simply for the fact that even with all the hi-tech equipment you have & use, there's still room for the old time served (and fully HSE approved) cut-off seatbelt/ratchet strap handle conglomeration in the lifting setup (about 14:43 or so).

watched the whole video back to front, as someone who is just getting serious into learning about motor conversions etc this was an awesome, educational video to watch, bloody awesome. motor sound bloody mint too, wanting to get an old gq patrol to do up and motor swap and was set on either, Ls, Barra or wanting to do something like an rb30 bottom end and a rb25/26 top end, but now im really interested in this motor

No need to say more than you guys are real engineers! That engine is an art piece. Lots of inspiration for a future conversion. I own a 2002 LWB Y61 ZD30 GU Patrol, a 2005 W210 E220 cdi estate, and a 2003 LWB 4JX1 Isuzu Trooper, all auto's.

Love this swap! The charge cooler and the intake are beautiful. With the bright yellow engine it looks the ultimate in racing diesel tech! I’d safely say, your at the top of your game! I used to marine-ise these motors to go into fishing boats. As a cheaper alternative to the ford 4&6 diesels. If I knew then what I know now I’d of kept them!! I so want this set up for my CLK W209. It’s running the 5 cylinder Cdi. That’s maxed out at 280 on the standard pump. Still with the 5 speed triptronic autobox. Anyway loved the video!! Looking forward to the next one!

Cool video gentlemen and awesome engine conversion! In Australia here the ZD30 is known as the grenade motor… sooner or later it will just blow up!! @silviosweeper10063 жыл бұрын
I owned a Chevrolet Suburban with 6.5 turbo diesel a while back. The engine is not a bad engine but not exactly efficient. The fuel injection however is something i have no good memories about. It will let you down. You can of course engineer your way around it. Furthermore the 6.5 is, due to its design, rather maintenance heavy. Taking all this plus the sheer weight of the unit into consideration there might be better and more modern options available to you that will make you a lot happier with the end result. I personally would favor a Cummins crate engine over a GM product all day any day, because of their more modern design and power to weight ratio out of the box.

Man I was looking to do an extreme build on my AE111 Toyota Corolla Levin with a 2JZ-GTE engine swap, rear wheel conversion, custom wide body kit, air lift suspension, full interior.. but then I thought to myself, _"Hey! I'd be able to only carry one other person with me in that."_ So I then started looking at Toyota jeeps; Prado, Land Cruiser, Rav4. I ended up choosing the Prado because it's more modern looking, so as I was planning that I'd do to it what I was thinking about doing to my Levin, I saw *this* video! Needless to say I've *always* been a Nissan fan from a tender age as my dad owned multiple Nissan vehicles one of which was the notorious 1969 Datsun 240z. I fell in love with the Skyline as a sniveling lad, so my lifelong dream was to own one (R32, R33, R34), but as I do not have the means to afford one, I figured that the next best thing for me is to get a RB26 power plant and do a unique custom build no one has ever seen before. I will not spill any details about it as I want to roll onto the scene on a DL, but I will say *thank you* for the inspiration you provided by sharing your unique build. Best of luck, drive safe, enjoy your family and stay healthy as much as you can in your own power. Cheers!

I've got a 2003 GU Patrol in my yard with the 4.2lt Nissan 6cyl diesel which is turbo'd to 20psi and intercooled. Not sure if that engine was sold there. It has mechanical everything, even runs timing gears, not a belt or chain. That Merc is so much smoother it's amazing! Prices for these Patrols have jumped here too, though ours aren't running on salted roads so rust isn't as big a deal unless they see lots of beach work.
