I have a 1989 Bentley Turbo R....the Turbo R is a more desireable to have -> only 325 hp but 500 ft lbs of torque...amazing build quality and HUGE power. Look for a Turbo R and you won’t be disappointed. This car also held the 1987 Landspeed record of 140.xx mph besting a Lamborghini Countach. A lot of people do not know the history or understand these cars.

Congrats man! You've really blown up in the past couple weeks/months. Last I ckecked, you were at 8 or 900, now you're at almost 5k! Good job! I started watching back when you made your post on autotrader oversteer about your bentley(when you first bought it).

When I said it was worth twice that in parts, I wasn't suggesting that you buy it and part it out. I meant to imply that if you did buy it and the restoration proved too much for you that you could part it out as a way to recoup your losses. Probably could have worded that better.

There are a lot of old, tired Rolls Royces and Bentleys out there. Usually requiring massive amounts of cash and time to get up and running/driving. I think you did the right thing by not buying it. Keep up the GREAT posts!

Just servicing one of these is 8 to 10K dollars! Friend bought an old one years ago, all went well until it broke. Oh my, that was expensive! Good Choice! Seller won! Buyer just bought a vehicular money pit!

Lately I'm restoring my second car (BMW E31 after an E34), which means I make a complete engine bay, drivetrain and chassis overhaul and renew everything in the interior, which isn't working. If you make everything new or let it regenerate from a professional (e.g. the electronic damper system or the steering gear etc.) you don't end under 15-20k. It requires a good, rustfree basis and even more importantly: workspace and the right equipment (which will additionaly cost you a whole lot of money). A car with rust is even more expensive, if you can't do the bodywork for yourself. I don't know how expensive the Bentley parts like water pump, ignition parts, dampers, seals etc are, but my guess is, that this car needs another 7-10k to run smoothly. After 2 cars I would have the confidence to do this job. But if it was my first project car, I wouldn't dare to be able to do that. My biggest worry would be the engine. If you have no experince in rebuilding engines this could be the biggest problem. I don't know how solid the Bentley engines are. There are quite a few engines out there, which could take the long standing time without any hassle. But you'll never know when you buy such a car. In my opinion the first project car should be a car with a good fan basis, so others can help you out and parts are available and don't cost too much. Because if you do everything the first time, some things gonna break and you'll learn it the second time. So I think it was the right desicion. Even though it would have been a fun video series. Greetings from Germany :)

Thanks for watching from Germany! I agree about working on a car with a good fan base. A strong online community for a car is extremely helpful.

The idea of a Bentley Hooptie fleet on a KZbin channel is VERY appealing. As long as somebody else does it.

Hey Josh. Love your Bentley. I like wood trim better though. What makes an Arnage better than a RR Silver Seraph? I personally like a soft cloud ride. The Arnage seems to have a harder sporty ride. Thanks.
@JoshsWorld

The RR will have the softest ride. The Arnage R has a soft ride too. The Arnage T is a bit more firm.

Every poor jock at the gym that smells like protein and steroids now have a cheap 2004 Conti they found for $23,500 on the local Craigslist. Also the type to smell like left over Drakkor Noir cologne from the 90's they bought in bulk at a discount outlet and show up at "the club" at 1:51 AM to pick up a leftover drunk broad to make himself feel "wanted", just before the lights come on, so the drunk chicks thinks he's cute. Typical owners of cheap old Conti's have 8 credit cards, and 16 rape charges pending. Most old Conti's have the basic junk seats at this point, they truly do look like Chrysler on the inside with the "extra shiny chrome" everywhere, and very little actual "luxury". Unless it was a well-documented Continental Speed / Mulliner or something, I would hard pass every day. Even if you bought a new one, everyone still assumes it's a $23,500 used Conti with problems at this point; the problem of Louis Vuitton. If you buy an $4,500 high quality briefcase, everyone thinks it's a fake anyways ... Might as well buy an Eddie Bauer version of a Ford Explorer, you would get more respect. Talk to me about an 2008 Brooklands Coupé, that's the car-enthusiast version of a recent model Bentley Coupe worth buying.

Clean title in hand, if you run a Carfax nothing should show up as it was supposedly garaged, if he can provide a title in hand maybe the original window sticker and dealer papers, that car would be worth more to me not to all buyers. If I have a clean title. I would drop like 10k on the engine and maybe 2k on the interior. It will never be perfect but for under 20k a decent driving and good looking car.

Josh, personally, I think that Mulsanne is absolutely gorgeous and worth it to buy, rebuild and get her up to speed. That being said, it will also cost a small fortune to make it as perfect as possible. I've done just that with guitars BUT I'll spend $700 to rebuild a shit guitar I bought from Mark Gallagher of the 80s metal band, Raven. A guitar that was used in eight RAVEN albums. It was a fun project and a piece of metal history that i now own but I'm not broke! That Bentley will bring you close to the poorhouse and it's not worth it. Glad you didn't buy it, just means you'll have the funds to buy something else that will be perfect. Love the Arnage!! Maybe use the $5,000 you didn't spend and install LED lights all over it! ;) Kidding!! Have fun, brother!!!

Getting rid of all that mold/mildew OFF that leather,....new Rolls carpet, that is a MONEY PIT! Cant get Toyota carpet for a Rolls. And that mildew smell, will be in the A/C vents, so unless it is torn apart, it is always going ot smell 'old'. A shame for a Rolls to end up like that.
