Thank you for posting, it brought back great memories of my father. He owned one just like it. I can remember washing/waxing it with him after church on Sundays. I went on my first date in it. I remember the blue exterior color and white interior were strikingly beautiful. The seats were amazingly comfortable. And that car drove like you were floating on air.

Hey man thanks for sharing, I know how it feels to have something special from a passed loved one. Most people these days are just heartless, all those views and only a handful of likes. Ijust stopped by to look a the Caddy and leave a like for the privilege of seeing this blue Cadillac. The 80's was a great time👍

I’ve been in love with this model since I was a teenager in the 80’s. I just saw one a few months ago and I was surprised (after not seeing one for 30 years) just how narrow this car is. It was parked on a side street and I was really shocked when I looked at other cars parked behind it on the same street how wider they were compared to the El Dorado.

This is a fabulous automobile. When a Cadillac meant something. Absolutely spectacular. When cars had style, room, charisma, a presence. Like a celebrity arriving. I have an Escalade which to me is the only thing out there that is remotely worthy of the name Cadillac. But still a ghost of its former self. An Eldorado Biarritz, a name for Christ sake. Now its all this CTS, SRX, CT6, crap.
@AdamJDM13 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the Escalade is the one current product in Cadillac's lineup that still has somewhat of that Cadillac style and feel- no wonder it's their best selling product by far. Which makes it all the more baffling that GM announced they will make it an all-electric car in a few years. These auto executives seems so far removed from what the people actually want.
@burningblue12543 жыл бұрын
@@AdamJDM1 Now Cadillac is bent on making fast powerful cars rather than the spacious, elegant, luxurious, classy, vehicles they used to make. When I was 3o, that might have appealed to me but I want a Cadillac of yesteryear, your Eldorado Biarritz or a Brougham d'elegance. I don't care about being in a rocket ship.

Most days I would much rather drive this Eldorado than a high revving sports car. Let's acknowledge how great this vehicle has aged, even with low miles any 85 Mercedes or BMW would have needed major repairs. Forget the Japanese they didn't even make luxe in 85.

I think the mirror controls are for auto-dimming. The dial is so you can adjust it so it only dims with really bright lights that are up close. Either Mercedes or Rolls Royce was the first to have automatic climate control, I can't remember which. It's possible that Mercedes was the first to have it and Rolls was the first to offer separate automatic climate control for the upper and lower vents. By 1985 a few luxury marques had it, Mercedes, Bentley, Rolls and Audi for sure, BMW had it but it was only on the 7-series. What made you decide to sell it on Cars and Bids instead of BaT? Could you send me a link to the auction? I'm curious to see what you got for it!
@AdamJDM14 жыл бұрын
Hi there, thanks for explaining that rear view mirror. So what happened it I actually submitted the car to BaT, but they didn't accept it. I was quite surprised, because they had just sold the same car a week prior for $17.5k and that one had 45k miles on the clock vs this one which had only 6k original miles. When I asked why it wasn't accepted, I just got a generic reply back. I had 3 others cars on BaT, 2 sold there, 1 didn't, so I thought I had a good relation with them. Anyways, I think Cars & Bids is a good alternative to BaT, but just doesn't have the same audience and presence like BaT does. I feel this car would have went for a lot more had it been on BaT, but luckily I had a reserve in place. carsandbids.com/auctions/37GzGedZ/1985-cadillac-eldorado-biarritz-convertible?c=all

These 85 Biarritz convertibles cost $35K!! The car was converted from a hard top to a convertible and cost $11K more than the factory hardtop. Mine is white with a burgundy interior. One of the most impressive things is the convertible top is finished with a headliner like its a hard top!! Rolls and Bentley did the same things on their cars!

One of the worst Cadillac ever made . It has the 4100 series engine. It was so bad they put an Oldsmobile 305 engine in to replace it .Cadillac also tried putting a metric transmission in there rear wheel drive cars. Disaster! Don't waste your money on any early 80. Had an 89 Fleetwood with the 305 motor, never any trouble with motor. Had to have the transmission repaired. Put in aftermarket parts to beef it up. Should have kept it.

BTW, the model us pronounced " BEE-uh-ritz"... ...this epic car must be one of several that your grandad owns; otherwise he REALLY doesn't get around much anymore... ...in Antiqua Blue Poly, this gem looks like its just out of the box...he could probably hold a sealed bid auction if he ever wanted to sell; and I bet the winner would be north of $35G... ...pristine is a term that should be used sparingly; but Grampa's luxo ragtop deserves it...

Thanks for the info- I'm not so up to date with my American Car terminology, but I'm working on educating myself more and more. I wanted to make a more in depth review of this great car, but it was quickly snatched up shortly after I uploaded the video, lol. The car was actually really dirty in the video also; had to park it outside for a couple months and didn't get a chance to detail it before shooting the video.
