Brilliant! Sub given! Brings a tear to my eye as i see Nigel, storming through Donny like that. I'm old enough (73yrs) to remember my train spotting days in the 1960's at Donny and York! A big thank you to you Crunchy Nut and all the young people taking a interest in these beautiful machines. Steam needs you!!

Many thanks, I'm very glad that you enjoyed it! I'm also glad to have brought back those memories, I'm sure the train was quite an accurate representation of what used to be! I also agree on your point about young people in steam, thankfully since the pandemic more and more people seem to have taken up the hobby which is great to see. Regards, Dan

I am 71 years old and remember these incredible Steam Engines from my boyhood, We lived in the flats right by the Turntable of the Nine Elms Engineering Sheds in Battersea, London, there was a little steam engine to turn the thing, The flats were quite new in the 1950s but the whole block would shake when the little engine was working, if for some reason it wasn't working, two blokes could turn the thing by hand, even when they had the biggest engines on it, it was quite a sight to see. I have to say i got quite emotional watching those Engines Steaming along, it brought back many memories.

64 next month and worked trains into Waterloo from Bournemouth & Salisbury for 31 years. I would have loved to see Nine Elms as it was. Worked with a few Wloo drivers too from 1988 who would have been there.

@@kristinajendesen7111 Thank you for the reply. For kids it was a incredible sight to see, especially when some of the biggest locomotives came slowly down the line onto the turntable, these beautiful things, creeping slowly along, we would shout at the drivers who would wave to us if they saw us. We were a lucky bunch of kids.

@@daneelolivaw602 I saw one at Coventry station in about 1964 when my mum took me across to see it, frightened the life out of me because I was only 3 and a rebuilt and unrebuilt Bulleid pulling Up & Dn Bournemouth Belles past Meyrick Park Bournemouth in 1965. They could have been Nine Elms or Bomo locos. 24 years later I would start at Bournemouth West Depot as a guard. Wish I had seen the station though.

Thank you so much for all the memories discussed on this thread! I sadly never got to see any of these things as I'm too young lol but I'm really happy to hear of them and imagine! I'm very glad the video brought back memories for you and it's great that we still have the ability to see them even nearly a century after some of them were built! Regards, Dan

I remember in the very early 60’s waiting to go on my first train journey to London, as the train pulled into the station it looked like a great beast noisy and billowing smoke,it was amazing,my dad was a steam enthusiast so often went to steam fairs and The Bluebell Railway😊
