The number of times I've seen these A4s leave Kings Cross. I used to live a two minute walk away and spent many an hour watching these things leave from platform 10 in the fifties. I even got a lift up the platform on the footplate from a friendly driver after the train pulled out. So glad to see the enthusiasm here for them.

I'm just a girlie-girl and not an experienced rail buff, so I can't make any telling technical observations about the sounds, the brakes, the rate of acceleration, the track, the points, the gradient, the number/type of carriages, the route, or whether the driver is (obviously!!!!!) wearing Grade 1 or Grade 2 gloves [you can tell by the way the thingy does the wotsit], so I'll just say this: I love steam locomotives (See? I'm trying - I didn't say 'trains'🤭), and very much appreciate this fine video. Thank you for being there and taking us all with you.🙂 Now then, chaps - who's for coffee and sandwiches?

Hi from Green Bay Wisconsin U.S.A, and the Famous National Railroad Museum, where we have our A4 60008 Dwight D. Eisenhower since 1964. But since 2001 trapped inside the Fuller Exhibit Hall. Yet in 2012 it was pulled out by sheer force of will power, and returned to York and your National Railway Museum, for "THE GRAND GATHERING " with the Reunion of the 6 remaining A4 GRESLEY STREAMLINERS for the 75th Anniversary of The World 🌎 Speed Record of "MALLARD", and numerous excursions. There are many videos on Y.T. that give me an idea 💡 as to Why these A4 locos were, and are, SO SPECTACULAR!!!!! And thanks to the New King Charles for sponsoring this A4 project back in 2013 when He was The Prince 🤴. GOD BLESS THE KING 🤴 🙏 🙌 ❤ 👏 AMEN!!!!! GLORY ALLELUIA!!!!! //: P.S. Now it is Sunday, May 28, 2023A.D., Pentecost; and the morning switcher engine just passed by going East to Bellevue, WISC., for the Canadian National Railroad, and using the Original C&NW, Chicago and North-Western RR tracks, that C.N. merged into, in 2003., thus now is the 20th Anniversary of this merger. However, the first C&NW RR went further East, from Manitowoc, and Turning South to Sheboygan, and Milwaukee. But in 1987 that track was also split between the UNION PACIFIC merger in Milwaukee. And the new Regional shortline called the "FOX RIVER VALLEY RR", F.R.V.R. But also later in 1996 it was then controlled by the next new rr called the "WISCONSIN CENTRAL LIMITED, WCL., who decided to abandon, and rip off this valuable track between Rockdale and Denmark. Yet sadly, we the railfans had plans to make this into a new excursion, and including the evening Dinner train that might have had Wisconsins farm fresh food and dairy products. Also in the winter we might have had a Special long excursion for the. N.F.L. football fans of OUR GREEN BAY PACKERS!!!!!, And go South to meet the Chicago Bears 🐻 🐻❄, and our long time rivalry since 1919. Happily, another route is available, in addition to some of the 1956 Original Bilevel coaches, and Diesel Streamliners like E.M.D. Large E8A, and also the F7a, from the Famous Fleet of the C&NW "400"!!

I look at this beautiful beast and remember my days as an engine cleaner back in Crewe south sheds in 1967 56 years ago😱…This loco was preserved there at the time and it was our job to clean it , luckily for us it didn’t go out too often so was easily cleaned compared to a working black five…Crewe south was still operational even though officially it closed in 1967 but was on a much reduced basis and steam locos were still running until late 68 or early 69 …I remember the owner of the Sir Nigel Gresley always coming to the sheds I think it was David Bailey 🤔 but a photographer for sure, he was always taking professional photos and another day the husband of Princess Margaret came as a guest of the owner and a really nice man …I then went on to the footplate are passing out as a fireman, but in reality my group of engine cleaners then fireman were the last to work on steam because there were very few steam sheds left open at that stage…
