Hey Teej! I work at a detail shop and what we use to get the adhesive off windows is lacquer thinner on a terry cloth and just scrub away! The lacquer thinner dissolves the adhesive! EDIT: make sure to use gloves! Lacquer thinner is a very bad thing to get on your skin! ALSO DO NO LET THE LACQUER HIT ANY TRIM, PLASTIC ETC IT WILL STAIN IT

Here is a tip TJ Cellulose Thinner.or some one like Adams may still do a tar and glue remover but I have used Thinners many times to get the residue off.

To remove the rear tint spray soapy water on the inside of the window. Then take a large brown or black plastic trash bag and place it on the window with the soap water. Make sure to spread the bag evenly over the soapy window. Let it sit in the sun for like 30 mins depending on how sunny it is. Then peel the tint off as u pull the bag off. The glue should come off with the tint.

i work at a glass shop, the people that tint windows use this stuff thats called AIRCRAFT paint remover. you can get it at a part store. and also make sure to get the kind in a spray can. also make sure to cover all the interior bc that shit will ruin anything it touches

Soap and water with an sos pad takes the glue off the window and heat the back of the window up with a heat gun. Driver and passenger window use soap and water and get a stainless steel scraper blade and scrape off the glue

1. USE A BLACK PLASTIC BAG WITH formaldehyde in it, soak the rear window down with ammonia and stick the bag to the glass. Let it sit in the sun for a while and that will help. 2. Steam it and use plastic blades to scrape off excess adhesive. While soaking adhesive with ammonia. 3. Use Stainless razor blades and scrape the defroster off, ( no use for it in California anyway) lol.

The rear tint on my z32 was also a nightmare. Pulling slow as molasses while applying steam is the only method I found to work.

For the rear window take off the film completely, it doesn’t matter if the adhesive stays, then grab a microfiber towel and dab it with paint stripper then wipe off the adhesive with it and it should come off super easy! (I tint window for a living)

I actually recently removed some extremely old and crap quality tint from my car and I was having the same issue and I tried everything and short of sending it off to be professionally removed I used some “aircraft remover” and that stuff worked wonders layed it on thick let it sit and all the old tint and residue came off but be careful cause the stuff is very toxic and will burn your skin ruin plastic and carpet Hope this helps

take a heat gun to the back window tint and a plastic razor, you will have glue residue left behind but you can spray some soapy water on it and scrub the window with a dish washing abrasive pad.

You need to use a white scotch brite pad with some baby soap/water and scrub it off. It take off the adhesive on the window with not messing up the rear defroster. After ripping off the film.

If you want to remove the tint spray ammonia on it cut a trash bag out in the shape of the window and turn the heat on inside the car on high for 2 hours and it should peel right off with the adhesive once you grab a corner.

Use a heat gun for the window tint! You’re not getting it hot enough and you can also use lacquer thinner to get the glue “residue” off of the window without damaging the the rear defroster

Try Tardis for the rear tint - it’ll dissolve that glue like butter! It’s a tar remover for detailing but works great on glue residue also. 👌🏻

Dude I'm loving the build, the attention to detail is really impressing me, you've given me a new respect for the youtube car build community. but I'm a little disappointed as I watched this Vlog, at the 1.03 mark, when I see that the bodyshop, that you've praised so highly, didn't even take 5 minutes to remove the door lock mechanism, to paint the inside of your doors, makes an awesome build look cheap.

It's called an SOS Brillo pad with some diluted ammonia. That's how you remove the tint glue without damaging the glass.

For the rear window. Wait till you can turn on the car so you can turn on the rear defroster and let it heat up a couple minutes and you can start to peal it off use a heat gun also for more heat if needed

I tint cars for work so I do this daily. But I use a big lamp and water and soap mixture and put some trash bags. Also totally awesome from the doller tree gets glue on back windows off really easy

I am a window tinter and on those cruddy tints you need a way better steamer then that it can also help if you heat the outside of the window with a heat gun then clean window with adhesive remover after all the film is off

Nice👌.. Right hand drive is quite tight like you described, my wastegates close to the steering shaft and I have a turbo beanie, ceramic coating, heat shields and exhaust wrap to try keep heat away from the brake/clutch master cylinders. On your left hand drive it should be hassle free....

Yo TJ I am a detailer. I have taken on multiple purple tints. steamers is the best option. however that steamer is not made for this purpose. You need a bigger and better steamer.

I used the 409 spray method to remove my tint. Spray rear window and put plastic trash bag to cover it and let bake in the sun for 10-15 min. Google it for detailed instructions.

You can just pull the tint off and use fine wire wool with glass cleaner to scrub the glue off the window Best way I found (being a tinter) was to heat the outside of the glass with a heat gun and slowly pull the film off the inside, just be careful not to overheat cos it's worse trying to get off melted tint aha

Rustoleum air craft remover does the job on removing the rear tint! I had the same issue with separation on my back window tint! Don’t get it on your paint and don’t buy the spray can versions, they are not as good as the one in the can.

Take both, for glue use gasoline, petrol what ever you call it. Any type of glue that get left on glass you can remove with regular 91-95 octane petrol. At least we do that way in Serbia. It do not dmg paint or glass.

Put ammonia in a spray bottle and spray the tint. The ammonia will break the tint down. Wear a mask It really stong. That combined with using the steam has worked for me every time.

I sell heaps of mothers products here in Australia and promote it. Really recommend the VLR vinyl leather rubber cleaner for the interior! Comes up looking brand new and strips off all the gunk easily! Good stuff brother 🤙🏻
