NEW EXHAUST on the RX-7 sounds AMAZING! + soundclips

If you've been wondering where the RX-7 has been - it's back! In this video the RX-7 gets a brand new, stainless steel 3.5" exhaust system.
The RX-7 is getting a few upgrades this summer - stay tuned!
Parts used:
DUMP-PIPE:
- Goleby's V-band 3.5" to suit 6466
- 2 x 304 45 deg long legs
MID-PIPE:
- 2 x 304 30 deg long legs
- SPmufflers oval muffler
- 10 degree (mixed offcuts) bend downstream from center muffler
CAT-BACK:
- SMB (SPmufflers) 3.5" single exit dumpy

LOVE the beginning with the lil' tyke's imitation of an idling rotary..."brap, brap, brap" As a 30 yr. veteran of aerospace welding and race car fab, overall for someone that's learning, I think you've doing an excellent job. Most don't take the time to properly prep, clean before. The alum. heat sink with the purge connection (something few consider) to control distortion is a great idea. I'm, curious, tell me about your welder and the torch. Appears to be a very smooth running tig machine. Is this one of the newer multi process machines or tig only. I'm looking for something to replace my big Miller monstrocity. A great old tech machine, does tig and stick well but I'd like to have a MIG capability for other projects.

hahahaha little tike he is! Thanks for the encouragement, definitely still learning and i'm happy with how it's going so far. I've found the hard work doing all the prep forces me to be systematic and gets me in the mood for welding. Haha hard to explain! Ok so with this little exhaust project it has shown me the limits of the machine (Unimig 200 AC/DC) but i am still satisfied with how it performed. I found the limit being the torch as the head is small and aircooled - it gets quite hot and this seems to translate into a hotter weld with the same amperage being set on the machine. For someone who is learning, it is harder to control and i have to let the machine cool down or weld faster. The machine is for tig and MMA only. I have a separate MIG machine (Cigweld Weldskill 185) which i wanted to sell off but i still find myself using it at times. There is certainly a time and place for MIG! Thanks for the comment!

@@JCYT You should know I oversaw, crew chieffed 2 separate Mazda rotary race programs, club level SCCA stuff and my autocross RX7. One was a GT3 RX7 12A motor, 3 seasons, 31 races, 27 wins with a rookie driver. So, I'm familiar with the 'brap, brap, brap' exhaust note. Whenever I hear it, it brings a smile to my face and a warm fuzzy feeling. Seeing the lil' guy sound it out was heartwarming. Thanks!!

No i don't, it's not currently required for what i do with the car but it sure is cool! @Raceonly have a few cars running antilag for roll and drag racing. Crazy stuff!

Plumb it back...unless it severely hurts performance. Only you need to know what you have.

Running a similar set up to you but I have mine plumbed back but with flanges to blank it off and go screamer when I want too
