I am an ex Enfield steam train driver aged 81 and I still have steam and coal in my blood and still dream of those good old days hard as they were at times.

I dont know why they had two lumps of pig iron on for 6029 should be able to pull that lot ok they are known to have started 2000 ton trains by themselves

i believe the diesels are there for breaking and power to the passenger cars
@bushranger518 жыл бұрын
+Jim Young Yeah but not many steamers could handle the Bethungra loop without assistance, in the old days there used to be as many as three Locos on a passenger train just to handle Bethungra.
@mdgfb054 жыл бұрын
@@TheAntiBully No, passenger cars are not supplied by the diesels. They have batteries under the frame which provides the lighting (no air con in these cars).

Why does it have 3 frieght cars on it
@EeBee517 жыл бұрын
The tankers are extra water for the Garratt. the flat cars are are for spares and other bits and pieces. If you look closely, the yellow container has a generator in it. Steam tours these days have to be pretty well self supporting as all the old infrastructure has pretty well gone.

A good video ruined by two diesels which could have put the back at least, or not there at all,
