What a beautiful engine and my favourite class to boot, when I was a kid back in the 1950s trainspotting at York and especially Doncaster, I used to see these magnificent engines and some coming out of the works ex works, I can remember even now 65 years later and it's as real now as it was then, No 60535 Hornets Beauty coming out of the works and into Doncaster station and I must say a special thanks to all those devoted staff who maintain these magnificent locos.

The Brits can do a first-class job when restoring steam locomotives. 60532 is glorious.

Yep no longer capable of doing much else today , well apart from opening up the entire country to the rest of the world as you will have noted in this clip.

WOW when I was a kid I watched Blue Peter every week and they always had her being mentioned on the show. Its so nice to see her looking resplendant in her new paint. We only had a B&W TV so I never saw her true colours!

Amazing site to see, yet most people only saw it through the back of a mobile, missed all the glory and splendor of a full size natural viewing.

It's unfortunate that so few Eastern Region locomotives other than the streamlined A4s were preserved, as opposed to quite a bunch for the Southern. I spotted 'Ocean Swell', 'Pearl Diver', 'Bahram' and 'Trimbush' on one of my rare childhood excursions onto the ER

Beautiful. Fingers crossed now that Hornby come out with a model of it esp as we havent had a blue loco in quite a while

Would loved to have seen how the loco coped without diesel assistance on the rear out of Kings Cross ❌? loved the video 😁 thanks for sharing .

The 47 in there for back up and generator use only. All heritage steam engines have to have a diesel back up when travelling on the mainline. Now that makes the engine even more impressive pulling a rake and a 80 tonne engine too.

I can't for the life of me work out why British steam locomotives don't have headlights or mechanical couplers
@TrainspotterJack41102 ай бұрын
@DonRoberts-hz8cs It was mostly like that in the US, since locomotives in the US are specially built to run there.
@DonRoberts-hz8cs2 ай бұрын
@@TrainspotterJack4110 I'm from new zealand. We had headlights and chopper type couplers back in the 1880s from 1910 all locomotives had steam generators and air brakes.
