Everyone who’s complaining about the price of the PS5 Pro really need a reality check. Looking at the specs of this machine, it’s going to be performing at similar level to a 4070, in both rasterisation and ray-tracing, and that is a £500 graphic card alone. The machine then also comes with a significant upgrade (28%) to the RAM and throughput speed, and you’re also getting 2TB of storage as well , which is double what you get on the base PS5. That is at least another £200 plus worth of components too. Then add in the price of the motherboard, the cooling system and other components, along with all the production costs, then the price is actually pretty fair. The only area without a significant improvement is the CPU, but even there you’re still getting a slight boost bringing it up to similar performance of the Xbox series X. I genuinely do not understand what people were expecting, the PS4 Pro came out at a similar price to the PS4, yet people didn’t buy it (myself included) hello, because the performance gains weren’t good enough, and that was because Sony concentrated on getting the box out at an affordable price. Clearly that strategy wasn’t successful so this time around they Sony have recognised who are their target audience is, and made it more expensive, but with a genuine and substantial upgrade. Why is it that It’s only in the gaming community that I continually see people at like entitled crybabies, pocket watching, and constantly trying to tell other people what they should THEIR money on. Most of which are the same people who are happy to spend extra on their Phone, i.e. they’re people who will choose to upgrade to an iPhone Pro Max just to have a bigger screen, or they’re the same people who will continuously pay £1000 plus to upgrade their graphics card every three years; Yet for some reason, those exact same people act as though us console players who can afford it, shouldn’t allowed to do the same. This is not a priority machine, it is targeted at two audiences, i.e. people like myself who only play on console, but don’t want to have to choose between quality or performance, and high-end PC players, who don’t want to wait for first party PlayStation titles. P.S. Where was the outrage for the £600 digital only Xbox Series X, which comes with no upgrades at all, other than 2TB of storage.

People who have actually tested the machine have it performing above a 7700 XT where it comes to rasterisation, but significantly better where it comes to ray-tracing, plus the PS5 also has RDNA 4 features which aren’t currently available on any AMD graphic card. Therefore the RTX 4070 is the closest card comparison to the PS5 Pro, if you want to equal or better it, and it isn’t just me who think so either, almost every person who is tech literate AND ISN’T BEING A BUTT HURT FANBOY also think so. Plus you also have to understand, that you cannot count console vs PC on a one-to-one spec basis either, because consoles are custom, bespoke, machines, which are literally designed for maximum performance and throughput, unlike the average PC, which is why a console will nearly always out perform a similar aspect PC.

I am a day one buyer of the Pro...I see the value in the technology and am willing to spend the money on it BUT Craig says it is NOT for the mass market...whereas Mark Cerny says 2/3 use 60 FPS...that sounds suspiciously like the mass market to me when 40 million players choose 60 instead of 30 fps. I ALWAYS play in fidelity mode... I played GTA 3 on PS2 in sub 20 fps...I'm hardened :-) A PC equivalent...newly assembled? With 4k monitor? 2k +... For me there is absolutely no reason to upgrade my PC anymore...For what exactly 4k? PS5 and PS5 pro 60 fps? PS5 30 /40/60/120 or pro ultra settings with 60 fps For the games? The good games all come from the console anyway.... PC is becoming more and more of a background issue

Everyone's complaining about the price, but I mean, someone's gotta pay for Concord's development... Jokes aside, I really don't think the price is that outrageous. Silicon is expensive, it is the most expensive part of the console, and if you're increasing your GPU size by 67% then the silicon is also going to cost that much more per chip. So it's really not that surprising that the console's going to be an extra $300 between the more powerful GPU and 2TB SSD. All things considered, I don't think the asking price is that bad, it would be hard to build a comparable PC for the same price without resorting to second hand parts. My main issue is that there's no version with a disc drive included, that's just stupid because now I have to hunt down a disc drive as well, and it's just one more thing to get scalped on. I mean, why buy all the PS5 Pro stock if scalpers can simply do a low risk purchase and buy up all the disc drives instead? With no disc drives on the market, people would be forced to turn to scalpers who can put whatever price they want on it.

The Series S accounts for over 70% of Xbox Series consoles sold. So the people buying Xbox consoles today don't care about how powerful the system is. They just want a home console at an affordable price. If I was Microsoft looking at the sales of the Series S and the landscape of the console market today, with Sony aiming for the high end console market, and Nintendo aiming for the low end handheld market, I would be making a console that sits in-between. Something more powerful than a handheld, but less powerful and more cost effective than what Sony's doing. I don't think they'll keep trying to compete in the exact same space as Sony, as it doesn't make sense for them to do so, they've tried it multiple times now, Phil's acknowledged that they can't compete in the same space, and I just don't think they're stupid enough to try the same thing again, when they know it hasn't worked in the past. They need to differentiate themselves from Sony, and given how well the Series S has done for them, I'd be surprised if they don't decide to simply focus on that market segment with their next console.
