60Hz NTSC console on 50Hz PAL CRT TV

One of my friends asked me:"What happens when you plug a NTSC console on a PAL TV?" That was the reason for this Video

TVs sold in the Middle East supports PAL SECAM and NTSC. Including analog tuners and inputs.

and even support 110v-220/240 volt , i think the best crt tvs for multi system was from middle east , but most of them no support for scart and many of them supoort s-video and component , last year i bought 4 brand new sealed box "Panasonic flat crt 21 inch and 25 inch , with s-video and component support , pal /ntsc 110-220/240volt , its very rear to find new crt Panasonic tv still sealed ,

If you check the schematics of your TV there might be a 14.31818mhz oscilator crystal and a SMD 18PF capacitor missing. I did a mod on my Sony Trinitron KV-14M1E soldering the crystal on the X301 position on the board and the Capacitor on the C322. Then all i got to do was going into the service menu and enable NTSC frequency trough a code, mine as 19.

You may need to set it to NTSC 3.58 manually or if it supports PAL60 you will need RGB SCART

I think u need RGB cables for ntsc to display colors if your tv is only 50hz

That’s the correct answer, if your TV can’t display color over composite at 60Hz, RGB cables can solve the issue. I have a philips crt TV from 1992 and that solved the problem

@@enjoymentforlyf8192 I have one TV that shows color and one TV that is black and white. I‘m sure that it will work, but I don’t know if your PAL TV supports colors

I have the same issue here, i play classic ntsc tetris. Do you know any crt tv model that displays ntsc colour (60hz). I live in Greece.

I've had good luck with sony crts, i have one from 1990 and one from 1996, both are displaying every signal i throw at them properly, but i've also had good luck with cheap chinese sets that have universal boards in them, but those had other problems such as the scart sockets rgb pins not being connected to the chip on such sets. However i had some bad luck with beko made (beko, grundig, arçelik etc.) crts when using rca cvbs cables, some worked fine some displayed a black and white picture. I also had bad luck with lots of 100hz tvs. As far as i know every tv that has rgb scart should be able to display 60hz, since rgb doesn't care about pal or ntsc.

If your TV can’t recognize a the NTSC signal than you can’t do anything

But there are ntsc to pal converters. But yeah, they might have very much latency issues. Modern tv's that has av inputs will display ntsc in color.👍

@@bojkberetmany 50hz CRTs will support 60hz content. Source: have used 4 different PAL TVs with my NTSC consoles (using RGB cables).
