Thanks for sharing your knowledge of 60s Girl Garage Bands...I, too didn't know that there were so many. Cool!

Superb! I can't get enough of girl garage rock, She and The Luv'd Ones are two of my favourite bands. John Lennon was talking out of his arse when he said women can't play rock and roll .And I must say, Marsha Tomal of The Daughters Of Eve was an absolute kitten back in the day

I wish I'd had these for my OLDIES radio show (in 80-81) when I featured 60s girl groups and 70s girl rockers such a Suzi Quatro and Joan Jett.

The outfit was a 60's all girl band from Cleveland, they came in fourth at the 1968 teenage fair battle of the bands the year the James Gang won. Unfortunately they hooked up with the wrong manager and broke up in disgust. the band consisted of Lorie Stanonik, Judy Pastva, Cindy Klamut, Diane Polewka and Sheila Cornell

At 1:17, I recognize three of the members of what would become the renowned all-girl band, Fanny: extreme left, Alice deBuhr, next, Jean Millington, at the bottom, June Millington. I don't know who the other girls are. Another great job, thanks, blacflag.

That's great. I love seeing some of the old bands on here. I didn't grow up in the generation, but I was influenced by it. LOL! I like to write music, of both psychedelic, and renegade rock! I like to reflect some of what I've gained from The Doors, Pink Floyd, Jefferson Airplane, and Deep Purple!

cool music !!! I was born in 1983 !! my mother was guilty he used to tunning radio on 60's stations and I watched her dancing !! Maybe that's the reason I love this kind of music and particularly the garage girls ... cool music love dancing like her ... and yeah I'm gay !! :D

Oh, good! : ) And thanks! Yes, many have disappeared, for instance, I can no longer find Dino, Desi & Billy's version of 'Please, don't fight it'. The Knickerbokers (another excellent, excellent group) did a cover but Dino, Desi & Billy's is the one for me. It seems more wilder, more loose.

It's easy to find a few of Goldie and the Gingerbreads' tunes on some of the oldies collections that deal with rare oldies. "Goldie" herself went on to have a successful career as a record producer. I recognize the Middleton sisters, Jean and June, in the second picture after Goldie and the Gingerbreads. What was the name of their group then? They later went on to form a group called "Fanny" in the early 1970s. Good music, too. Fanny recorded a good cover of the Beatles song "Hey Bulldog", among others.

June and Jean Millington - at the time we went from the Svelts, to Wild Honey (which went to LA), which became fanny. I wrote an autobiography, "Land of a Thousand Bridges" - www.ima.org/help-out/merchandise/

It's actually funny to think that The Runaways(with Joan Jett ) thought they were the first all girl rock band.

The Freudian Slips. They didn't necessarily have to record a lick to be one of the coolest ~ but did they and were they any good? This is a really great series and I'm glad to see that it's expanded past the original goal of 3! Great job ~ Thanks!

before my time & great fun! i didn't know girls started playing this early in rock history. local legends here from the era were our "ponytails" with Born Too Young but they were a singing group not musicians. big difference.

Alice De Buhr and Addie are in the photo, so I would guess it is Wild Honey, as the Svelts were just June and Jean from Fanny with some other girls.

G'day. Blacflag! My Questions about The Bombshells are: 1) were the horns overdubberdby band members, or were they session 'extras'? 2) I never hear the flipside of the excellent "Trerat Her Right". What's the B-side's title and has anyone ever uploaded it? Finally, were The Bombshells from Dallas, & what year did they record their 45?

It would be great to identify all the names behind those generally smiling or though looking faces, and to know what has become of them. I'm trying to do something similar with 1950's bands, but of course, it is impossible to find all bands in every small town that ever recorded a record, especially because some band names could either be male or female, some records nearly didn't sell and probably ended somewhere stacked in a cardboard box, bands changed several times of name, several bands had the same name etc etc. And being in Europe don't make it easy to find out about US bands. Even limiting it to white bands - because a lot of research already seems to have been done about Afro American bands - doesn't help that much. There are still soooooo many names to be discovered, if ever...
