haven't sewn a thing since 2021. now i've cut out my patterns, cut my fabric, sewn my darts, and am simply waiting for my invisible zipper and ribbon to arrive before i finish the dress. thank you! excited.

also no hate to someone else in the thread, but the pattern was easy to follow without additional info. very intuitive and took me about 15 minutes to tape everything.

just made this dress and i'm wearing it right now! love it
@brigittecomeau8 ай бұрын
yes good point!! The dress is meant to be mini (I would never wear it without shorts under haha) but also depending on people’s proportions it may be too short for 5’4, thanks for pointing this out

hey brigitte! downloaded this pattern to attempt to make my own and im really excited to sew this piece :) if i could please offer some constructive feedback for future patterns - it took me a while to figure out which piece was going where (i printed at home so had 12 pages in total of different parts)! may i please suggest putting a preview of how the final pattern would look like if it was stuck together, so we can match the numbers together, or perhaps small alphabets on notches so we can match them. i had to zoom out of my print preview to roughly see how the patterns work together and it took me like 1.5 hours!
@brigittecomeau8 ай бұрын
whatt omg yes of course!! So sorry about that, I thought the numbered pages would be enough but I totally get how that could be confusing with 12+ pieces, I’ll add a previews of how the pages are supposed to go together today :)

If we are shorter than 5’3” can we do the opposite adjustment with the tall one? As in scooting the pattern up a bit so the whole thing is shorter? Im new to sewing but have been looking everywhere for a cute 60s style dress in my size but i think making my own will be the best option
@brigittecomeau8 ай бұрын
Yes exactly!! Just do the opposite :)

Hi, what would you suggest doing if you don’t have an invisible zip foot?
@brigittecomeau3 ай бұрын
You can use a normal zipper foot! The zipper just likely won’t be as invisible!

What kind of fabric do you recommend? I really struggle with finding the right fabric, since I want something breathable but it also shouldnt be to light to hold the structure🤔
@brigittecomeau8 ай бұрын
Most fabric will hold its shape enough with the way this pattern is designed! I just meant not something super thin and flimsy, I’ve used anything from thin non stretch cotton, to knits, denim etc.. I thrifted some blankets and curtains that worked great for this project too:)
@eldflaug5 ай бұрын
also if you could line it :) just make the same dress from thin lining material and have it a little bit shorter and google how to line a dress, I think that would be great for this dress
@Naomi-fs4zzАй бұрын
How many yards/meters of fabric would we need for the pattern please?
@brigittecomeau27 күн бұрын
1.5 yards is more than enough for small! 2 yards should be enough for the largest size!!

I’m very beginner and I reallly want to make this but I don’t get what so many of these mean and I still don’t get how you did it 😭

hi i’ve bought it and it didn’t give me an option to choose size and is 2xl. i’m an xs so don’t know what to do and this is the first pattern im following
@brigittecomeau3 ай бұрын
That’s weird you should have received all sizes (xxs-2xl) in both a4 and letter format! If you can’t find the files email me bybrigdesigns@gmail.com, I’ll send them to you :)
