60th Anniversary Rolex Daytona is Almost Certainly NOT Happening!

Will there be a 60th Anniversary Rolex Daytona? What do you think?
The date of the first Daytona is hazy. Rolex made chronographs for decades before the 6239 came out. Do they count?
The 6239, which came out around 1963, is considered a Daytona, but it wasn’t until 1965 that the name “Daytona” appeared on its dial. So, which date should we go with as to the first Daytona: 1963 or 1965?
Even Rolex doesn’t give a definitive date on their website, referring to the Daytona’s history in these broad terms: “More than 50 years after its creation, the Cosmograph Daytona remains in a class of its own among sport chronographs and continues to transcend time.”
One thing we know for sure from the above quote is that Rolex considers the Daytona to be over 50 years old. And why acknowledge a 60th anniversary when they never did the 50th?

The speculation is an additional point of discussion, so ambiguity is probably good from Rolex's perspective.

Absolutely. The Sprite and explorer 2 nonevent kind of took the fun out of guessing in my book. Its just way too arbitrary to figure out the decision makers want to do each year.

True. I think the Speedy is the King of chronographs, in the sports segment. Of course a PP will crush both, but the Daytona is just the Daytona.

Great vid Austin as always👍🏻. What do you think about the “ Platona “ or the Platinum Daytona? ( 116506 ) Both the brown dial and the diamond baguette dial. As you know they both have the same ceramic chestnut 🌰 bezel. I believe you’ll see a change in the precious metal variants and you’ll see a few models being discontinued. A green Daytona in stainless is going to happen. Maybe in sub-dial, bezel, hands, or the text. 60 is an important anniversary .
