I have a 6200 sq ft "barndominium" myself. With a 1250 sq ft carpeted and climate-controlled room for displaying cars and a 1200 sq ft shop for building them. The rest is living space. I absolutely LOVE it and highly recommend it for anyone who wants to live simple and play hard. They're not that expensive to build and easy to maintain. My only advice to anyone thinking of doing this is, don't skimp on the foundation or the roof. You don't want cracks in the floors or your roof coming off in high winds. I LOVE seeing other people's bardominiums, so thank you for sharing.

What is so bitchen is that you made it your own. So completely cool. My hubby and I build our house from scratch and it's everything we love. Took us 2 years. 6 inch thick walls, double paned windows, extra insulation in the attic and inside the walls of the bathrooms and laundry rooms for soundproofing. Reinforcements in the walls for towel hangers, extra electric outlets, every 6 feet instead of 8 feet, vaulted ceilings, solid steel core exterior doors with magnetic seals. We though of everything.

Greetings from B7! You can add two bedrooms off the balcony on a deck over the dog area and laundry, etc, and convert some of all of the storage into a bathroom for those new bedrooms. The storage can be anywhere and in my opinion, it should be on the ground floor to minimize carrying dead weight up and down the stairs. (west side lean-to addition?) Oh, and make it big enough and insulated for your extended food storage, etc.

@ML-sc3pt Жыл бұрын
Solar panels literally take more energy to make than they output in their entire lifespan.. They're not worthwhile at all
@hirbini Жыл бұрын
@@ML-sc3pt That's just false, they make up for what energy it takes to make them in about 4 years. You also should factor in that they will pay off the cost you initially paid by saving you money on your electricity bill. Additionally, some states offer tax incentives for installing solar panels so it's especially financially feasible. If your home has lots of sun shining on it throughout the year, it would make sense from a financial perspective to look into installing solar.

Gorgeous views!! Nice place! I foresee some issues once kids arrive. The only way to get from the upstairs (with 1 bed and 1 bath) to the main level is through a tall industrial-looking garage staircase with cement at the bottom--not toddler friendly, speaking from experience; also, a lot of trekking up and down with infants. Then when you have a 4, 6, and 9-year-old, the kids may be sleeping down on the first floor and your instincts are not going to like that. These are just a few things that came to mind from a mother's perspective, and you mentioned having a family.

Like how the shop sq footage is more than the house. Great for all the future toys!

Tell me why a man could ever want for more than this? this is a perfect setup..i've always wanted a pole barn house and this fella has perfected it, and also beat me to it despite being half my age..way to go bro, it looks heavenly. I do have to say you're missing a really good chance to have a Honda Ruckus though, they're so rad and you could even get a hitch carrier for your truck and automatically be 10 times cooler!

If you are ever building again, it always a good idea to have a second / kids bedroom close to the master bedroom. Kids will want to be close by.
