Me too. You can build a Mustang or an F body that will blow away the exotics with all the after market stuff out there for these cars. That TransAm was 400lbs heavier and didn't have a dual clutch automatic and it had a 130 less HP. That race was close considering.

@Mtn Dew Matt 999 only Trans Am I've owned was a 78 Smokie and the Bandit style with the 6.6 😁 I loved that car. I had a couple z-28s and an 89 IROC, but I would still absolutely love to own a 3rd gen GTA, that's honestly my favorite of any 3rd gen firebirds or Camaros. Either the GTA or an 89 pace car with the 3.8 turbo, I'd happily take either one.

My first car was a 92 camaro rs. Got it when i was 14, not running, v6 automatic. Clean body and interior for NY though. Put a nice little 350 crate motor from jasper engines. Maybe 270hp, with a t56 from a 4th gen my buddy had. I was done building it before i had my license, and mainly kept it at a friends house down the road so my mom wouldnt freak out. Took my permit test with a 3rd gen i spent 2 years building. It had terrible paint, but no dents, and i remember feeling like a badASS when i got to drive that thing to high school. Bought it for 800$, worked with my dad(plumber) every weekend and service call. Close to my best memories i have. Finding out im having a baby definitely tops that, but the RS is a close second.

Man I need that TA in my life. Second car I owned was from 18-21, 1988 Trans Am GTA with the 350tpi motor. Man that cat handled so good. No tilt whatsoever, if you took a corner too quick you just slid, no leaning. Unfortunately I spun bearings after not installing head/intake gaskets right (was my first ever attempt) and then rebuilt the motor with a friend and turned it into a carbeurated motor (huge mistake). On top of that a shady garage stole my 350 and replaced it with a 305. Sad ending to that story, I need one again some day and do it right

Honestly Id rather have both if life decides. realistically they are just the same car mechanically. Its just availability in the body style. personally Id go for the camaro cause of the fact it is an aerodynamic platform thats better than the firebird. plus the aftermarket is much bigger on chevy cars than it is on pontiacs
