It's not hard to see your effort in thinning the trees especially when you took us further up your driveway, that is so cool. The family time was hilarious what a great amusement park, it has everything a kid would want in terms of rides and sites. The rotating toilet was the best, lol without getting too political. But anyway thanks for taking us along Heath, good times with the family. You guys will be watching these videos for years to come remembering every minute of that day.

I think the lawn looks beautiful, I think where you are thinning the trees looks great, I like the dappled shade overhead but being able to see between the trees and knowing the larger ones will have rooms to grow strong and healthy, It also prevents forest fires on your property and that is wonderful!. I think you are doing a great job, If I had the property and I was physically able at my age of 69 and disabled I would be doing it, I think of how beautiful the national parks look with out all of the scrubby underbrush, How nice it is to be able to walk around in the forest, to be able to see the ground and enjoy the forest, Remember the saying, You can't see the forest for the trees, and you can't, you have to have room to walk and room for your eyes to wander and land on different areas, Like in your garden, don't plant too close together or disease will kill your garden.

Growing up in a logging town in Montana I had never even heard of anyone wearing chaps till a few years ago. They are very unsafe, way too hot in the summer and cut down your ability to move quickly (ie dangerous). There for inexperieneed beginners. Of course if you work for safety sally government, You don't have a choice. But since you get paid by the hour you don't care if you get nothing done.

@@kendall959 They are very unsafe? Are you frigging kidding me? Ask the person who almost cut their leg off with a chainsaw or ask someone who did a lot of damage to their legs with a chainsaw. You get the right ones that fit you properly and you will thank your lucky stars that you had them on if you should ever have a accident. I have taught a chainsaw course for over 30 years and I’m here to tell you that chaps or chainsaw pants are very safe. You think they restrict your movement? Let’s see how quick you can move with one leg almost cut off or worse yet, just one leg. Just cause you grew up in a logging community that makes you a professional on safety with chainsaws? Man you need a nap and wake up and read what you just posted. Good luck to you in life?

True, but it's also Cedar's land. She likes the wild, natural look and he wants to "use" the land. It looks good but it looks civilized and that is not what Cedar wanted. Her opinion is not wrong.

I look at our trees when I mow and pick out the ones that are sick and dieing so we can cut them down before they fall making problems. A big wild cherry could take out both water lines if it falls, so needs to be cut down asap. Upkeep on a homestead involves many steps and jobs!!!

This was truly a wonderful video for two great reasons!… you’re making wonderful progress on getting trees cut down and send it out for your new home and turn around. Also, your family went and spent a wonderful time together add a memorable spot😊❣️❣️ it really look like all of you were having a wonderful time and it’s so important to have time together especially the older everyone gets. There are 12 children in my family and as we got married and had our own families and moved around the US, it became harder and harder for us to get together. We set specific times of the year for family gatherings: Fourth of July weekend and the third week of December December. That way everybody can plan a vacations WAY IN ADVANCE… it’s truly a wonderful time and we watch each other‘s children and grandchildren grow up together and, even though our parents have passed on we are able to still enjoy our farm and the grandkids can run and play and swim together and pick apples off the apple tree etc. Your land is equally as beautiful in fact probably more so and I admire what you’re doing to give history to your family and your grandchildren and your Grandchildren!♥️♥️❣️❣️ As I listen to the first half of the video, and I watched you work and talk about what you were doing and why, I thought of My sister, Who had a lot of wisdom to share. She often would quote the following: “A man (or woman), convinced AGAINST their will, is of the same opinion still !!! Do you have to think about that a little bit but let me explain further. I’ve been watching your videos for quite a while now but honestly, not from the beginning but Several themes ring True throughout all videos: One: You were very passionate facts about your love for the land and the history of your family on it as well as the trees! TWO: you love your family and you work very hard for them, day and night asking very little of anyone else!..(Play solitary Man). Three: Cedar does not want ANY trees cut down!! (Except dead ones) Four: Do you think for a LONG time before you ever put a chainsaw do you any tree you cut down, or any other work you do!! Five: I think you ask for very little from others but they have very much in the reverse!! Now,, the reason I mention this first sentence from my sister about trying to change someone’s mind is because the more I listen to these videos the more I realize Cedar is not going to change her mind every time you go out and work on the property and cut trees down. It just so happens that I have a brother who has a tree cutting business on the side and he has had this for probably close to him 20 years because he lives in the Midwest and we get terrible snow & ice storms. From the time he was a young boy, My father would go out in the dark in the wee hours of the morning and remove snow for people off their business parking lot and sidewalks as well as their driveways so they could get to work it wasn’t uncommon for 10 to 12 inches I’ll snow and ice to drop overnight. So, he grew up to be a hard worker just like you are and my father was and you took on this tree trimming business and it became pretty much a year-round job because we also live in a state where we get a lot of wind storms… Tornadoes for example and he came to my house one day I was living in a different state by then and we were outback grilling and I said to him, “isn’t that a beautiful tree! I just love it!’ And in spirit returning a positive response he said to me “IT NEEDS TO HAVE 1/3 OF THE BRANCHES THINNED OUT OF IT!! They are crossing over the main trunk and you’re Choking each other out and eventually your tree is going to die!!” Well I was quite offended but he said come here sis and we walked over and he began to show me what he was talking about and on that day I learned to look at trees differently. I don’t think Cedar is ever going to listen to you and not because she’s not willing to learn but you’ve been together a long time so my advice is having been married a long time myself is to find a place to take her to where is someone will talk to her about trees and the spreading of forest fires and why it’s important to send out trees and how you select which ones. There are actually computer programs/games add some of these nature environment tourist areas and I learned a lot about the Mississippi river by a virtual demonstration where I got to “fly over the Mississippi all the way from Canada down to the Gulf of Mexico and there was a spokes person talking for a while but then every now and then you had to stop and click on a pop-up and read it and respond to the answers and stuff and it was a lot of fun but it also was very educational. And I don’t know where you might have anything or anyone who could help Cedar understand so that there’s less arguments and more support for you but you might think on that because communication is everything and all of us if we’re willing can be educated!! I’ll be praying for a better outcome after you give some thought to this and maybe they’ll be some place like you talked about in the video but Arizona is too far away. I’m really proud of what you’re doing and while you’re doing it and I and I don’t admire you but I respect your integrity for the land but also what you’re trying to accomplish by yourself, basically!! Don’t give up and thank you for sharing your videos!!!!

I now view most trees as tall, sturdy weeds. I have no problems cutting and pruning trees now. There are wonderful tree farms in Boise that offers 30" trees for sale just in case Cedar wants some new trees. Your land looks like a park around your home and I love the look. 99 out of a 100 times "can't find anyone to work" actually translates to "we are unwilling to pay properly" for said work.

Nevertheless, wages have to be economically viable. Nowadays people are not used to hard work and have unrealistic expectations of their meagre efforts. Manual labour is hard, hours are long. Wages are set by the employer, not by the employee.

Profit is already thin in this Recession since the goods and services are either short or very expensive to get. So they do not underpay and would be glad to pay extra to get their business going stronger. It's the mindset of laziness and entitlement to Government handouts this Admin is more than willing to give out. I should know I'm in the same boat trying to find help willing to work regular hours reporting to work early in the morning. No they want to Party at night and are used to sleeping all day.

@@CrimeVid no. wages do not have to be economically viable. YOUR BUSINESS has to be economically viable. If your business is not economically viable then you close up shop and you don't get a business. you don't get "slave labor" to MAKE your business viable. Wages are set by the employee. always by the employee. the only time the EMPLOYER sets the wages is when you have slavery. the very IDEA that you think the employer should set the price of the employee's product is not only insane but truly SCARY to think that people actually think that way. It still blows my mind that I Have to explain this but most of RPR's viewers tend to be decent reasonable people so I am going to try. a product's price has two components. COST and PROFIT this can be confusing for those who are unfamiliar with economics and business because you have COST and PRICE at "each level" of the equation which can make it confusing if you don't recognize this fact. anytime you have a product you need from a moral/ethical point of view you only have 3 options and ONLY 3 options. Buy it. Make it yourself. Do without it. That's it. there is no 4th option in a moral/ethical system. you need SPOONS for your food shop? you have 3 choices. BUY THEM. make them yourself or do without spoons. Setting asside option 2 and 3 for now lets look at option 1. buy them. HOW MUCH is a spoon worth? well that's not relevant. not yet. you first have to know COST/PROFIT What does it cost to MAKE the spoon and how much PROFIT can I add on top of that price. Market forces supply and demand DO NOT have any impact (in this context) on the COST Of the spoon. they can only impact the PROFIT portion of the final price of that spoon. lets say the spoons are being sold for $1 each. it costs the seller 50 cents to make the spoon. 50cents is FIXED. its not negotiable. market forces have zero impact on this and supply and demand have zero impact on this (remember multi level we are limiting to the seller to buyer purchase level for this discussion) Market forces or supply and demand or you capacity to negotiate a deal is LIMITED to a basement of 50c. if you demand lower than 50c you get no sale at all since that would be below the COST to make the spoons. The only part you can negotiate is the PROFIT portion ie between 50c and $1 This is business econ 101. can you do it yourself for less than 50c? then you goto option 2 you make it / do it yourself. If that is not viable then your only option left is to DO WITHOUT IT. if your business is not viable without it then YOUR BUSINESS IS NOT ECONOMICALLY VIABLE you close up shop and you try something else. LABOR is precisely the exact same thing. its a PRODUCT. the makers of labor (laborers) are SELLING this product to you. you don't get to set the price of this product. the SELLER of the product sets the price. YOUR options are 1 buy it 2 do it your damned self or 3 do WITHOUT IT. if you hare at option 3 and your business can not work without the labor THEN YOUR BUSINESS FAILS its not economically viable. THis country in particular however has created an option 4. Slavery. just MAKE them do it for less. ie you STEAL their labor. lets go over that. what ultimately IS slavery from an economics/business perspective? its actually quite simple. its theft of labor. but but your paying them? OK put your car up for sale? $20k. I will come take your car and only give you $10k. but but I paid you ??? see the problem. just because I paid SOMETHING does not mean its not theft. its still theft. even plantation slaves were "paid" the slave owner paid for their shelter clothing food medical etc.. slaves were expensive. you typically did not just ruin them unless you were stupid. today we just "changed" how we do slavery. Free Range Slavery. nice. SO that begs the question then. what IS the cost of labor? This cost is determined by the seller of said labor. NOT THE BUYER. remember price is made up of COST and PROFIT. the buyer can negotiate the profit sometimes but has NO SAY in the COST. This is explicitly and literally what minimum wage is supposed to be. the "base cost" of labor. you can not go below this (even though we immediately arranged is so we could in fact go below it) but thats another discussion. SO why do we have to have a minimum wage? there is no "minimum spoon" cost law after all. that's easy. you need my spoons and I can CHOOSE not to sell them to you. and if you STEAL my spoons I call the police and sue you in court. See how that works? LABOR on the other hand is different. we have "arranged" it in this country so that you either work or you die. there is no "other option" for a laborer. in the past you could "work land" to be self sufficient on your own. IE you did not HAVE to work for someone else. you could barter for what you could not produce yourself with your land and your labor. this is no longer possible. all land is owned and requires MONEY which requires you to interact with the labor system on some level. there is no possible way to be "self sufficient" any longer. even if you could someone get land (which requires cash) and work that land. you still in most of the country have to pay RENT to the government so you still need MONEY since they won't accept barter. and you even have limits on that (permits zoning etc..) you can't live off the land since you need to own it or have a permit (all requires money) even living off the water is no longer possible as even salt water fishing now requires permission. WORK is not a voluntary interaction. its compulsory. when something is compulsory one of the parties can easily gain a very very unjust advantage to manipulate that arrangement IE slavery. This is what we do in this country and what we have done in FORCE since 1980 onward. Unless you have SPECIAL skills (which 95% of the country will never have) to where you can COMMAND more for your labor and get it. you are at the WHIM of the slave owners and they know it. they afterall arranged this system to be in place. This is why your brain is capable of erecting such an insane reality distortion field to understand everything I am saying with perfect clarity and you will agree with me COMPLETELY..... UNTIL I apply these concepts to LABOR then suddenly your Reality Distortion Field really kicks in and you reject reality entirely. but just for labor. somehow its "special" from those 3 rules. buy it do it yourself or do without it. you create a 4th option "the employer decides the price of YOUR product YOUR labor" which is literally bat shit insane. but you will say it with a straight face and believe it because you have been brainwashed and gaslight your entire life to believe it. so again. I will take your car for HALF Its value because the BUYER sets the price not the SELLER.... right? but wait. YOU JUST SAID. the BUYER (employer) sets the price not the Seller (employee) ??? WHY does this work in your mind for labor but not for YOUR CAR ? The question you need to ask yourself is WHY do you see them as being different? they are both products available for sale. WHY IS IT in your mind that the SELLER determines the price unless its labor then its the BUYER that for some reason gets to determine the price? why the logical flip?

Awesome stuff! To be honest, i don't know why is it that you (and you are by far not the only one!) feel like you have to explain why you cut down trees on your own land. You are free to do what you want and if someone does not like it, its not your, but their problem. if it was me, i might have left all the trees between the road and future lot at first to cut them down later, but never would i felt the reason to explain why i cut the trees i do not like on my property. as i said- good stuff, i've been watching weekly for 5+ years, i wouldn't have if it was not. :) keep up the good work, you are really inspirational! i believe that youngsters, as your own older kids are, need that kind of motivational content to actually understand that everything is possible if you work really hard for it! some of them (definetely not your kids) haven't even heard that you actually can change your own lightbulb, let alone making your own taco or burger. :)

If you think about it by cutting down the "bad trees" it will give the grass underneath a chance t establish itself and you will have more grazing land for animals. If Cedar likes tress around her house you can plant a thick windbreak of non invasive trees and shrubs.. We have evergreens along one side of our property that shield the neighbor's junk piles and sheds.
