Hey, there is the iron clad, from the mind of Carpenter himself, reason for Michael's madness: sister/samhain. Michael is under druidical forces. People may not like it, but Michael is not going to go through all that trouble to write it, if not so. It's not as if he has a sense of humor and is joking. The link between sister and sacrifice on Samhain, coupled with his 9 lives and, even in the original, unaccounted for physical power, the answer is obvious and clear. And from the hand of the babe, himself, John Carpenter. You should have touched on this indisputable new direction. It was important. Other than that, it was an amazingly well done video. I very much enjoyed it.

Michael Myers posing Laurie’s friends like it’s a haunted house Halloween prank is what makes this the best film. No nonsensical familial connection, no curse, no ghost moms with white horses. Michael Myers is just a fucked up individual with no sense of right and wrong who is stalking and scaring a random girl simply because she came by his old house at the wrong time. This moment has never been topped in the franchise.

Halloween actually does have a theme/meaning to it - John carpenter said so himself that it's about Laurie's sexual frustration, how everyone else is having fun but her, and that every weapon Myers torments her with is essentially a long, hard shaft - sewing needle, coat hanger, and knife. Two other points: he actually has a wrench in his hand when he smashes the car window, and the reason he wears a sheet with Bob's glasses over it and stages the dead teens like a funhouse scenario is because his behavior as an adult is childlike. The way he tilts his head to look at Bob, hides in the back seat before killing Annie like a child would hide, ripping down the potted plant to mess with her beforehand. Michael is supposed to be childlike, perhaps related to Laurie's personal struggle with maturing, asking a guy to the dance, having sex, and all things young adults do when they are not longer children.

I love that you referred to Laurie's teacher's class as cutting a promo! Being Irish, I appreciate your correct pronunciation of 'Samhain'. :) .....also, the older I've gotten the more I started to appreciate Halloween III: Season of the Witch, to the point where it is one of my favourite horror movies!

Love this! My childhood was similar when it came to horror movies. This was my second favorite franchise right after Friday the 13th. When I went trick-or-treating with my cousins in 1986, a stuffed Jason Voorhees was in the corner of someone’s patio. Little did we know there was actually a man inside waiting to jump out at us.

I absolutely love horror movies and the Halloween series is my number one horror franchise. I'm particularly fond of Halloween 2 ('81). When I was a kid, I actually saw part two before I saw the original. I was nine years old at the time, and no movie before or since has scared me like Halloween 2! At the time, I felt that Michael Myers could literally be anywhere and that's what really scared the shit out of me! He could be at school, the grocery store, your home, church, it didn't matter! Strangely, I kind of enjoyed that fear, if that makes any sense at all. Also, I really love the version of the theme music in this one. You're awesome, brutha! Another home run video, man. Be well and safe! ✌️

I love this shit so much. I went out trick or treating one year as a kid and this movie in audio form was broadcast on a radio station. I listened to while we traveled to the next neighborhood to trick or treat in.

as always, good shit, pal. I'm so happy to see where this series started with the Smackdown games to where it is now. I looked forward to these more than whatever new movie dropped recently or new season of my favorite shows. Ian does such a tremendous job of blending entertaining retrospective with heartfelt stories and charm. Michael Meyers is one of my favorite movie villains and Jamie Lee Curtis was a badass whom everyone could sympathize and root for. Donald Pleasence is freaking awesome as Dr. Loomis. I always loved his speeches. John Carpenter in the 70's and 80's was near untouchable. a creative powerhouse who had a roster of talented people around him. The music is incredible. The score is just tense and haunting. I cannot wait for the other parts.

I love Halloween, The Holliday and The movie. Michael Myers is by far The greatest horror movie villain by far, as big of fan I am of The movie Halloween it’s weird I never dressed up as Michael Myers, I always dressed up as Gene Simmons or a vampire, great tribute bud.

@@vincentmoran4821 Highly appreciated, thank you very much. I try to do super extensive research, not only on websites, but straight up buying books on the subject and reading them, watching the movies while taking crazy notes, listening to all the commentary tracks, etc. It's so, so, so time consuming and a tremendous amount of work. But this is what I love to do.

Amazing video man! A lot resonates with me on this one too! I agree, 1&2 are a package deal! Also, loved the photos of you as Michael as a kid, I did the same! It reminded me of you previously saying on your RE videos you and your friends would make up your own games, the pool was the sewer etc! We did that with Halloween, I was Myers and by the end we had the whole fucking street playing! Good times man! Love the video!!

Very good breakdowns, very good points. Ive seen the 80s horrors multiple times, especially the big 3. Watched a ton of content talking about the 80s horrors where it all blends together with the same stories, talking points, the same point of views. Yet your video delivered insights ive never thought about or heard before. Very good job. Subscribed.
