One thing that may not be obvious to everyone that I should call out... 1. If used alone, the rack should be fastened securely to at least a 1-2 foot wide plywood base. 2. If used in groups, they should be fastened together using a larger plywood board on each side OR using 2 parallel 2x4 supports at top and bottom of each side. 3. Halfway through the video, I am showing the rack BEFORE I installed 2.5" deck screws into the side rails but they are screwed on later in the video. :) Also… I now use two per end and pre-drill so it doesn’t split.

Thank you for making this video! I'll be making my racks this weekend with your method!!! You rock🤘

Heck yeah man! You’re most welcome! I’d recommend also using wood glue and two screws on each end as an improvement. Pyro on! 💥

That works. Good call on the spacers.
@TheNovicePyro11 ай бұрын
Thanks! I did some research and the spacers seemed to be what lacked the most in rack designs (according to more experienced pyros) and the reasoning just makes sense, so that was important to me, even though more material and time invested. Can’t wait to find a place to CATO these babies and show the results. 💥

These are very nice…I really need several of these myself. Winter project for sure for me…appreciate the video and details on dimensions.
@TheNovicePyro11 ай бұрын
Thanks! So far they are well received. I am honored… being my first attempt. One note… the 33” length leaves the last “bay” a little wider than the others. By maybe 3/16” to 1/4”. Consider going 32-3/4” overall. Doesn’t bother me for these but next build I will probably adjust.

Very nice rack construction. Excellent design with the spacers! I need to make some of these for myself as I just tripled down on my 62mm and 60mm (76 ProLine) purchases. At the 4:19 mark, the only thing I would recommend is pointing out the rack should be positioned with the length perpendicular to the audience. If a top rail would blow off (I've had a muzzle break in a series of these before), you want the unsupported tubes to fall away from the audience, not towards... 😮
@TheNovicePyro11 ай бұрын
Thanks! First build always has some flaws but I feel good about these. Already have ideas for the next using glue, more screws, different materials etc… It seems there’s always something I forget to mention in these videos (perpendicular being one of those things). I will likely do another build video later after I perfect it.

Nicely done. Do you know how to ignite these bad boys ? I’ve seen the insert in the very bottom, it has to be eport but what kind exactly ?
@TheNovicePyro3 ай бұрын
Thank you. 62mm proline shells are fired using standard ematch or MJG Firewire Initiators found here: www.cobrafiringsystems.com/mjg_igniters.html. You will want the "Standard Shroud" version. Of course, you will also need a firing system and that system will determine which type to use for connection (Standard Wire or Quick Plugs).

@@TheNovicePyro i love the 62MM shells, big part of my shows... but they eat a majority of my queues.... so i used slats the first time this year... I also used to put pink safety fuse in the bottom, and cap em... then group in 3s-5s to save queues....

Are you just using trim nails in your nail gun? If so what size?
@TheNovicePyroКүн бұрын
Just 16 gauge 1.5” finish nails for the spacers and setting the side rails. I now use two 2.5” deck screws for the ends of the side rails though. Spacers don’t need anything special.

Would you used the same construction style in a consumer rack build?
@TheNovicePyro4 ай бұрын
Yep, I’d do the exact same build and just adjust dimensions for DR-11 HDPE pipe. I’d also put two screws on the side rail ends instead of one. Also it may be wise to use liquid nails glue as well, especially on the bottom rail. When I tested a CATO, the bottom rail would have benefited from glue to help keep it in place better. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmTWnZKoatecqKs

They are higher, but not by a lot. Check this video where I shoot both sizes at the same time at 2 min 20 seconds: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqjNlZWYf7h6gJY

@@TheNovicePyro would u say the breaks are bigger and louder? I'm trying my hand at a more scripted show vs my back yard light what ever cake I even got 4 i36s from.ignite
@TheNovicePyro7 ай бұрын
Nice! You will love Ignite! The primary appeal for pro shells is that they are actually a ball shell versus cylinder and therefore break more symmetrical. In addition, they are easier to wire as they have the match port versus having to cut open and insert a match. They do go a little higher and break wider, but I wouldn’t say they’re much louder. If you haven’t seen what’s inside, you can check that out here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYCxnp-nnaioq9k

How do you do your fusing? Is it fused individually in the racks or do you e-fire them individually?
@TheNovicePyro8 ай бұрын
Hi Paul. This rack was built for 62mm, 1.4 pro single shot shells. They are designed to be e-fired via an electronic match port on the bottom. So I do e-fire them individually. Technically it’s possible to use fuse but I don’t. Hope that helps! 😎💥
@paulbrown86008 ай бұрын
that's a lot of Cues. thank you @@TheNovicePyro
@TheNovicePyro8 ай бұрын
Yeah it can be. Many shells go up together in pairs or sets, which only requires one cue. You can also save cues by using a sequencer which is much cheaper than using individual cues on the main firing system if you want to send up a lot in a short time or at a specific interval. An example of a cheap 12 cue sequencer… kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4CraJ6Njdlmjtk. Could be useful.
@paulbrown86008 ай бұрын
hold up lol. can I connect the end of a initiator (cobra), to a sequencer? as long as it has its own battery source it just needs to be "Cued" to fire from my module?@@TheNovicePyro

it looks like your on the steps ahead of me for my '24 show. Same line of thinking on 62mm and scripting etc. Do you feel that the 62mm shells were worth it? Versus doing NOABs or traditional consumer shells? big investment needs to result in quality minutes in the show. @@TheNovicePyro
