And that is basically the meaning of professional - Someone who takes more pride in what they do then the average consumer. I am using many of the safety features people use in these items and promoting those safety tips into our consumer products as well. I know every time a consumer leaves with a 20$ firing system they are safer, they will have a more enjoyable experience, and they can teach their children how to remote fire and have a good time with less worries.

I wish somebody would make a truly comprehensive and standardized online video course, with a Multiple choice test that follows. And maybe some form of I.D. verification? The travel aspect I think is a big turn off for people in certain states. Especially if you have renew every 2 years. I bought Dave's 1.4 Articles Pyrotechnic video course, and I like the idea of what he is trying to do. But I feel it could be done so much better with more detail, and a few extra steps added to make it more official.

I'm Glad you're doing this and I understand your frustration and concern!!! So just a heads up I want to let you know that not all places do that I got my certification where they also care had a fellow come in and the class lasted about an hour with a feel free to ask any questions etc.and we will spend the rest of the day with you type deal they were very good and we talked safety mostly during that hour... Just letting you know hopefully that eases your mind a bit. But talking is great anyway because that let's you know who knows a bit and who don't. Lots of luck to you and appreciate the demos

This right here is exactly why I'm just going to do the pgi class and be done with it. I got Dave's certificate but for 1 that's only good for a couple stores and for 2 I want to go through the training and know what I'm talking about when I'm out shopping for this stuff. And also the place closest to me only accepts the pgi certification

The pgi course is meant for 1.3 products and is completely unnecessary for 1.4 pro, the "requirement" to shoot 3 shows with a display company, and one of those shows you have to be the Master Pyro? So, let me get this right, a professional display company is just going to let some green horn come on board to be a Master Pyro? Yeah right!

I won't name names but I know who your talking about with the certificate and or video email links it's definitely a scam or just being lazy and just him trying to get views and attention or money from anybody he can or people that think it's enough but it's not teaching safety. It's great talking to you at the store and you have always been good at helping explain safety and how to use products.

Well said. I think it should be up to the stores discretion. My son and i dont have a certificate but hands on experience from pgi over the years. My son is qualified and took a class by Bill Corbet to do fireballs lol. As long as people understand how volatile black match and quick match is especially if they are trying to hand light the fuse on black match where the port is. We have a cheaper 64 cue system that does the job fine.

And it currently is up to the stores discretion. I know 1 company out there that does not accept the certificate from the program I'm speaking of here so they seem more regulated. But then my buddy calls them and they say this stuff is not for the general public. His response was I'm not the general public and they sold to him. I see and hear everything and I am 100% confident with the way I am doing things. I don't care what anyone else does I just want it to be known that I am doing things well and responsibly without following the mainstream bs way of dealing with this situation.

Technically, there isn't a law requiring any kind of certificate. But most places accept a PGI cert or type 54

In Wisconsin you get permits from the Town Chairman. No vote needed. Police Chiefs thoughts don't even matter they can tell the Chief they gave you a permit. But most government workers and police don't even know that's how it works. Start with the town board. If they say no try getting one from the Chief of police. Most places you will never get a permit though unless you are a business, group, or organization
