Glad to help. did you get the springs in by now?
@ensaerodynamics86154 жыл бұрын
@@10947792 Yes, things went well. I bought McVeigh Truck spring co and they fit well and sit much better that my worn out 58 year old springs. The guy there talked me into using the Ranchero wagon springs which have an extra leaf in them and would sit stronger than standard Comet springs. They were perfect! Thanks

You skipped right over how to get the front bushing in place!?!?
@109477923 жыл бұрын
@@blubelknol the reason for that is because the front bushing was installed by the manufacturer......I didn’t have to mess with it at all.

I wish you would've continued the video. So, once at that point, did you then hook up the rear shackles and, if so, how'd you get the spring bolt to seat in the perch? Or, did you get the spring in the perch first and then do the rear shackle? the Front is easy. Putting a board or two in there and stretching is straight forward but the next couple steps actually seem more difficult.

great question. to start the process, i bolted the leaf spring to front or forward attachment point. stretch the spring using the floor jack and the wood pieces as shown in the video. when the spring is stretched far enough, insert the shackle with the shackle pointing from the outside of the frame rail towards the inside of the rail or gas tank. ensure the bushings are lightly greased the shackle will easily slide through them. I had to use a large pair of channel lock / slip joint pliers to force the shackle completely through the bushings and allow me to spin the nuts onto the shackle bolts. it took a few attempts to get the shackle nuts to catch onto the shackle bolt studs but after a few tries I was successful. Good luck!~
