I met racer Tom earlier this month. What a great guy! My hero. When I grow up I wanna be just like him and I'm 41 :)

Greg hill in British Columbia skiid a million vertical ft in a year with no ski lifts. Then he came back a few years later and banged out 2 million all hiking.

I did not ski every day at Alpine Meadows, step child of Palisades Tahoe, but I did ski 145 days, almost every day. The difference is that I am 76 years old. Last year it was 150. I do not think he has a world record, but it's great for him. Keep it up, dude. Andy from Alpine

Good for you and I agree, impressive but not a world record.

You're a legend too. I'm trying to get out of LA again and live up in the greater Tahoe area next season just to chase 100 days.

The tracking system at Snow Basin must be pretty amazing. The last couple of years at The Heave and Kirkwood have been so laughably inaccurate, I don't even look at my "stats" anymore. But that's probably a good thing. Several years ago, I met a guy known as "Mr. Epic", who'd been averaging 5M vertical/year at various Vail resorts, since the whole RFID/tracking system started (2010?). Only took a few minutes conversation to realize that that was no way to live. Skiing all day, every day, regardless of weather or conditions, and always prioritizing the lifts with the most vert, even if you'd rather ski somewhere else on the mountain for some variety. He mentioned that more than once, he skied the same lift 40(+/-) times in a row just for the sake of racking up 60K- 80K of vertical in a single day. Talk about OCD!

Averaging 15,000 metres per day is commendable & demonstrates resilience over time. Gravity-fed fun!

Back in the old days they didn't have enough uphill capacity to break records like that. High speed quads have changed the game and I bet he wasn't in crowds at Vail

I'd think he'd get bored. Same resort, same hill, every day.

The entire point of a Guinness world record is that it is tracked and verifiable. Your friends may have skied "millions of feet" but unless someone is tracking it, it doesn't count. Oh, and this guy has skied 147 of the *past 148 days*, not 147 total. I rode a lift with him a while back and he was at 133 already way back then.

My friend Barry Lehinger age 74 now, skied 7,112,132 vertical feet as of 04/22/2018 @ Alyeska in 121 days. He should have gotten a Guinness World Record. He now skis “for fun” and skis off piste as hard as anyone 1/3 his age. I was there and saw it along with everyone else. My other friend Gary Mashburn upper 70’s skies millions every year with 2 replaced knees and has been forever. Another friend Rod Mumma just turned 80, skis every thing, 130 days this year. I applaud this gentleman, but we got him beat. Alyeska is radical mountain and our groomers are nothing like Snowbasin if you get what I mean. And our off piste skiing rivals any location.

To each their own, but first chair to last? Every day? Regardless of conditions? I love to ski/board, but, honestly, I would be miserable. (And all just to set a Guiness record, which is like the 4th or 5th derivative of a "competition".) Whatever floats your boat, I guess ... (whattup from Maine, Karah Brackin!)
