This car is AMAZING. But GM is the BEST at putting the power to the ground. The hellcat and 662 HP mustang are both great cars and super fast but I will stick the Camaro. I am fine with a 580 HP ZL1. The Z28 is the best for track performance but I want a daily driver.

I always thought the z28 should've at least matched the zl1 in power. A tad over 500 bhp seemed a bit slow for the straight ways. But hey the engineers might've considered it. It probably messed with the track balance. I mean this is a stock track demon. It beat the gtr track edition and a turbo s on a wet track despite having a manual and rwd. . . So gm really knows what they're doing. But a nice job from hpe. They know that most people experience their cars performance between stop lights on the streets. Track days are special occasions.

AMAZING! That car sounds AMAZING!!! Hennessey, incredible work as always and I 100 % agree with you. We are living in the glory days of the American muscle car and this is quite a feat looking as all the regulations with smog and EPA and the fact these cars are everyday drivers. Question...so he said it gained 130ish hp, but then said it put 638 to the wheels. Since its 505 stock to the crank that's a lot more than 130hp gain. Depending on the drivetrain loss. Can hennessey or anybody clarify? Thanks!

Bee's knee's right there. Should have came from the factory that way. Instead of being lazy and dropping the same old LS7 they should have worked it over and added direct inject and similar mods to it as Hennessey did here. Now its a proper track monster. Thank you Hennessey! All I could do was shake my head through out the video. Why didn't GM do this instead of a tuner? Lol

This LS7 has been worked over actually. Direct Injection has issues with the 7100rpm redline. Much of this 7L is new. The pistons,rods,and main bearings have been upgraded to race spec parts. Intake valves are now full titanium. I didn't know the heads were different. GM probably went less aggressive in heads for a flatter torque curve. Z06 heads were 12 degrees.

The LS7 is a detuned version of the C5r racing engine. Hennessey specs are very similar to the racing engine. Racing engine had more Tq then Hp unrestricted. The whole top end was upgraded in video. I'm not sure of his parts selection. Throttle body is probably 102mm up from 90mm. Intake manifold more then likely a Fast LSXR for better breathing. The cam upgrade alone brings power up to 570hp. Port and polish heads is like another 25hp.Long tube headers add some 30 hp more at the top end. A V6 is a little tougher to get gains like here in video. This LS7 pistons are so big the iron liners over lap each other. The block can be bored to 440ci up from 428.5. There is still some power to be had in the mid 750 in this LS7. A V6 is very limited in it's design. More power is very possible but such cost is probably not worth it.

depends on if they maxed out the engine or not. the z28 is a bone stock ls7 so there is PLENTY of room for upgrades. Who knows, it may be a PITA to upgrade the 'el Cat from what it makes out of production.
