Our cars are products of our environment. Most of our roadways are long, straight, and wide stretches of highways. So our cars were designed around that premise. Its simply is the DNA of our cars, where as European and Asian cars were designed more around tight, curvy, much older road ways that go through various topographies. Granted there are similar areas such as this canyon in the video on the West coast and various mountain roads in America, mostly our roads are straight with swooping curves here and there thus our product reflects that. Im sure I am not telling you things you dont already know, but just in case hope this simple explanation helps. Also our major interstate highway systems where designed during the cold war for efficient troop movements during Eisenhower's presidency in case a land attack occurred on our soil. Just some history for you.

Race track = Camaro... GT car = Hellcat... Drag car = Hellcat.. DD = Hellcat. My vote goes to the Challenger. I only DD, I only race myself, but I got the Scat Pack. It's way more comfortable and I like the old school look. It's also a really big car, which I like. If you don't like heavy cars you won't like either I think. But they are just such different cars, you do need both I think. Challenger for the commute, Camaro for the weekend.
@hasanmichael49664 жыл бұрын
Also, with a few after market suspension upgrade (springs, sway bars, also better tires) you can vastly improve the handling of the Challenger. Unsure of aftermarket parts for the Camaro but it sounds like it's no needed.
@hasanmichael49664 жыл бұрын
One more coment about the Z28, it is a lot more expensive than the Hellcats. You can walk off the lot with a Branch new Hellcat for just over $60K. The Z28s have been more than $15K over that price. When I went to buy my Scat Pack the dealership had like 8 Challenger Hellcat's and a hand full of Charger Hellcat's stickered for between $60k-$65K. They were trying to unload all their 2019 models. Still have a few on the lot, same price.

@TheCarVlogger9 жыл бұрын
The biggest problem with the Z/28 is the price. At $74,000 you're just $5,000 off from a C7 Z06. With that you get much more power, substantially less weight, a much faster car, and no offense but its a Corvette not a Camaro, which would you rather been seen driving? I'm not gonna get into the new vs used debate but if you wanted to a C6 Z06 with basically the same setup as the Z/28 can be had for less than half the price.
@hikeskool9 жыл бұрын
TheCarVlogger by "I'm not gonna get into the new vs used debate" you really meant "I fully intend to get into the new vs used debate, which is why I am presenting a used car option directly following a new car option", correct?

I have owned a mustang, Camaro, SRT and corvette all in the past, so I'm a fan of all. Z28 is not as great as people think. They get fooled because of those trofeo R tires. You put those tires on 80 percent of the cars out there and it's night and day the way a car performs. Had they put the trofeos on the hellcat they would have seen for themselves. Not saying the hellcat would have been faster on a track then the Z28 but those trofeos do make a huge difference.
@Flabernat9 жыл бұрын
A car's suspension is tuned for the tires. You can't throw stickier tires on any car and get the same kind of performance gains... And since you seem to have no concept of this, I'll provide an article that proves exactly my point. Tires do make a different, but they're not everything as you elude to... You also forgot the Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, and the SSV spoolvalve suspension(and a LOT more)... www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupes/1409_on_chevrolet_camaro_do_the_tires_make_the_car/

Flabernat I did read it. Regardless my whole point of putting the trofeo on a hellcat will make a big difference whether it's set up for it or not. I'm correct!!!!
@bobhope42889 жыл бұрын
The tires are one of the biggest handling improvement available. It's not at all about a suspension setup for those tires, it is however about damper valving and spring rates set up for that vehicle. Quality dampers and good tires are really what sets the z/28 package apart handling wise, those brakes are what set lap times. Camaro + Tires + Dampers + Brakes = z/28 Hellcat + Tires + Dampers + Brakes = 707hp z/28 S2000 + Forced induction + Tires + Dampers + Brakes = Track car. The same improvements can be made to any car, it's no magical tuning done by mythical engineering gods, it's the same mods any track enthusiast would make, only this time the factory did the mods.

Im a fan of the Hellcat but I would take a Z/28 over any car in this world. Ive never really been into exotics because for what you pay, you can literally go build a muscle car or any other car and make it just as fast if you have the money. The Z/28 is 505 naturally aspirated hp. For the extra money that you'd pay on a Hellcat, you can go put a supercharger, tune, headers, and exhaust and make way more hp and be able to take corners. But thats just my opinion.

@Lukos00369 жыл бұрын
I don't think there are any really light production cars anymore. Weight is something that is just a reality drivers must deal with. Jaguars (the XJsomethingoranother and F-type) are 4 thousand pounds and have been for a while now, Aston Vantage and DB9 are uber heavy, everything coming out of the UK and Germany is starting to look and sound a lot more like American cars than American cars are. You can get a Miata yes, or a Lotus, or buy a dedicated track toy like an Atom or Mono, but for velocity and noise you can't do much better than a 3500 to 4000+ pound automobile. Aluminum cannot mitigate hundreds of pounds of computers, sensors, a dozen other mandated things that make a car safe at speed. It's just the way of things. If you want one car that can do everything, you are going to be chubby. But I don't think that matters as much as it used to because the performance is still there.

I like how all they can complain about is the interior.

Do you guys ever get pulled over doing one of your filming sessions? I see those speeds cannot be legal. The Z28 has come a long way. Anyone remember the one episode of The Phil Hendrie show featuring his 'guest' Chris Norton and his anti-radar Iroc Camaro? LOL

the stupid, it burns! who would have guessed that the car designed for the track and nothing else is good at going around turns, and the car designed for the road is better at cruising on the road. bravo guys, bravo. did not see that one coming

SICEM_Rex Than you clearly don't know evolution and inspiration of design.

1776alltheway I'm sure Honda was clearly inspired by the segmented six taillight arrangement of the 1969 Camaro when they designed the rear solid taillights for the 5th Generation Prelude, buddy.
@Dylan-xj8tb9 жыл бұрын
SICEM_Rex that same sarcasm can be used for this camaro...im sure they thought "wow, lets use the design of a 5th gen prelude" even though they were clearly using the 1st gen camaro as their vision.

The Z is just bad ass it's like a true comp pony car from the late sixties except it get disqualified cause too many cubes. Lol. This is what the Z28 should have been since day one and it was at first then it became a package. It's nice that Chevy went back to its roots.

Normal people: Complaining about Camaro interior even though they drive a Toyota Sienna Car People: Tearing interior out, welding a roll-cage in... Me: Do you get it yet?

EverydayDriver How do you think the Z51 equipped C7 compares to the Z/28 in terms of pace on back roads / canyons? Seems like with a better set of tires it could keep up? (if you go 19"s all around you can easily run Pilot Sport Cup 2s or Trofeo Rs on the Z51).
@artsbest19 жыл бұрын
Anyone buying the Z28 will get some more HP via cams, headers, heads, push rods, etc. etc.. This is a no fluff big block mean machine. Caveats are NO moisture on the roads or you're DOA. And no inter city driving. This is a balls out mean machine and should be driven accordingly.

Under 100 grand you're in SRT Viper territory and C7 Z06 both are about 85 grand. The C7 Z06 with it's stage 3 aero pack might get closer to 100k buy a base Viper with Carbon Aero kit and Track pack boom roughly an extra 150 pounds of down force Pirelli P ZERO Corsa's and bigger brakes basically a T/A for 90 grand just a tad heavier.
@jamesnelson4859 жыл бұрын
Awesome car, but only if it's your Sunday driver. I'll take the Hellcat any day for the money. And I'll take either SRT 392 for second prize.

Love this video, 2 amazing engines, one amazing car, and a rocket. but I am a modding guy, so would I get them cars, nope, why? simple way expensive and yet can be made with aftermarket parts and then you can make it even better for you. and I appreciated the honest talk you guys did. but in today world, 750 is a good start. I would even call it an old Track racers dream car, but for me, they are too heavy, to high, not aerodynamic bricks that do well but if you have a real light car, and no wind resistance, they would just be even better. but if I was to buy a car in that range I would get a CTS-V or a Vette and mod that. and the Paganini, is a nice art car, and a fast one but not for me, Ultima Cars, and LS7 and this coming from a guy that loves the look of the Movie Turbo's Camaro. but the interior or the Camaro, well its ugly, if someone puked on the dash it would be an improvement. why? that pod thing well its like ok for say a 2002 Saturn or an ashtray, but out of place in a edge line car. and they could put the car on a diet, I am A GM Fan, but really lets get the saws-all and cut up that dash.

Which road is this at? Looks like tremendous fun with that Camaro!

i disagree with these guys about the interior of the car, chevy made this car about the out side of the car, the engine. i like how they didn't include all that ugly technology, the big gps and just a plain stereo. they made this car more for the real driver, not a guy who drives this car just as a car.
