Thank you so much Augie for the feedback, I do take a lot of pride and time in making my videos is worthwhile as possible. I think most will share that kind of information and some sort of paid format privately, that’s not my motivation to share. I hope to continue earning your subscription and be aware. I do have playlists where I have in creations broken down by category so you can see what you might be interested in learning and then start poking through some of those videos. Either which way, welcome. I’m glad to have you here.😘

I cheered when you mentioned Tilly Douglas ! She has been so great at finding ways round the lack of Floetrol and testing ways to do things in the UK. She’s just like you, very helpful with lots of tips. I’m going to have another try at resining now I’ve watched you. Could you tell me the make of resin you use please? It looks much runnier, but I guess it’s the temperature and the little warm bath idea makes a difference. Thank you, Louise, for all your lovely tips and tutorials. You really are wonderful! 👏👏👏

You inspired me to try coasters. They were beautiful with your bloom 401 video. Unfortunately, I didn’t do well with resin. I sanded and redid them, sanded, and redid again. Now I think it might be the resin, I bought the wrong resin apparently.

Maybe you can help me out as I’ll be teaching 3 16-person classes for the first time ever at the Fluid Art Boutique in DC 6-8 Aug. I’d really love to have close to full classes. If you could spread the word about how I’ve helped you, I would TRULY appreciate that I mean I could tout, but coming from a 3rd party validates the meaning and impact. 😘😘😘😘🧸

Thank you Tina and believe me, I hear you! I purchased the Resin in June of last year and it wasn’t until January that I got up the nerve to use it. If you watch Mitchell’s video from Rain and Pours, Tilly Douglass’… and this one 😊 a few times, you will have what you need. And then you just have to try, just do a small batch, maybe just four tiles with 40 mil total and have an extra tile in case you have a little more, just try it and you’ll for sure say, “Well, that wasn’t that hard!” Guarantee it!!

Hi Louise. Your tile coasters are beautiful. Does the KS Resin provide a heat protective barrier or will a hot cup cause an indentation? Thank you. Your work is wonderful.

Thank you, Dolores, 😘the resident I use is rated to 450°, although I’ve certainly never tried it that hot. It definitely does not leave any indentation when you put something hot on it. If you go to the KS Rein website, they have all of their technical data and specifications there.

@@mrsCJust4fun hi Mrs C yes for something that’s cured but has a problem with it or has a blank spot sand it down lightly. I emphasize lightly with 220 grit sandpaper. I do not have any suggestions as I’ve never encountered the problem before. I suggest that you just KZbin search ‘what to do about tacky resin’ and see what comes up, I do know there’s a way of getting around it for some reason I’m thinking alcohol, but I don’t know how to do it myself. I do know that if your resin is still tacky even after 24 hours, then they’re probably with some thing about the mixing process that was off, probably a mismeasured mensch between the hardener and the epoxy. But but look it up you’ll find something

I almost ready to try to resin some tiles. I came back to watch this because I thought you mentioned in one of your videos how long the paint should cure before applying resin. I did not hear anything in this video - maybe it was in another one. How long do you usually wait for tiles and is it longer for larger items like the lazy susans - I'm only up to tiles so far LOL
@LouiseMcKayArt
@LouiseMcKayArt 2 ай бұрын
Hi BBrown, 😘good question and I’ve mentioned here and there… coaster I wait at least 7 days, 10 is ideal and lazy Susan’s at least 2 weeks. Now that’s with the assumption that you’ve spun off all the paint you need to. I hope this helps.

@@bbrown8353 nice BBrown! A simple thing that people forget to do is spritz a paper towel with alcohol and rub down the tops and sides of your creation gently to wipe off any oils or residue from your fingers. Your piece has to be free of oils before you resin on it otherwise it will show, blank spots and pull away in spots.

Hi! Great video. What type of respirator do you use. Is there a name brand? Amazon?
@LouiseMcKayArt
@LouiseMcKayArt 6 ай бұрын
Thank you, Roslyn, it’s a 3M respirator. I got it from Home Depot. You can probably get one from Amazon. You just need to find one that would be good for resin application. I don’t have the number (7000 something) and it’s pouring down rain so I’m not going down to the workshop right now. Just look them up

Hi. I resin my first month as a newbie and I got craider. I didn't know about the alcohol 91%. And it's tacky. I watched how some have sanded and applied. Any other suggestions. I didn't put it into water to warm it up. Such a major failure
@LouiseMcKayArt
@LouiseMcKayArt 2 ай бұрын
Hi Connie, yes, you always need to alcohol spritz of paper towel and gently wipe your piece down to get rid of any residue oil or dirt that might be on top. If it’s tacky that indicates that there was a problem with the measurements in the mixture between the resin and the harder make sure you follow your manufacturers instructions on the ratios. Google search or KZbin search how to fix tacky resin is my only advice. Also, we’ve all had ‘failures’ but look at it as learning and then there’s never failure only improvement 😃

You have inspired me to try my hand at coasters. I paint poured over ceramic tiles. Let dry 2 to 3 days. Then used counter top resin and had issues. My error because I have resined previously and did not read the directions. But during the process I noticed that the paint and resin did not adhere properly to the ceramic tile. Have you noticed this happening? And any idea what caused this?
@LouiseMcKayArt
@LouiseMcKayArt 7 ай бұрын
Hi Tamela, 😘I usually wait about 10 days before I resin, so maybe you just need to wait a little longer? The KS resin I use is called liquid stone, which is a countertop resin, I have never had a problem with anything pulling away.

Hi Rachel, it depends on what you’re creating, and depends on your environment. I typically for coasters will wait at least seven days, but I’ve done them and as early as five days after creation.
