The water hyacinth should be collected in a barge, taken to large mulcher and left to dry in the sun, then used for garden mulch, a very saleable product I should think.
@kpb96m

The harvested water hyacinth can pose a health risk to humans because of the plant's propensity for absorbing contaminants, and it is considered toxic to humans. In Vietnam, the plants are boiled and chopped for pig feed. Its also used as cattle forage, fertilizer and mulch.

While I'm not from there, I would assume that profit margins on these runs are very slim, and boat owners wouldn't simply be able to afford this. This is probably the reason why majority of the boats are so overloaded. People just want to get as much money as possible from the run.

But if on days when there is salt water, each day the dam's gate will only open one gate or two gates for boats to pass through.

It is not just the water Hyacinth that is the problem. The single narrow gate is the problem. The volume of water flowing downstream is the problem. As this water is pressed into a narrow slot. The speed of the water increases. Water about 30 - 50m upstream from the gate, starts to accelerate as it passes the narrow gate. This then slows once it gets out the other side. Open more gates to help this

Hello, thank you for watching the video. Water hyacinths live a lot in canals, but where there is little water flow, water hyacinths live a lot, but at a certain time of the year, the water hyacinths will drift out to the gate of the dam.

Are the people buying these boats themselves? Or do they pilot the boats for others or for government?

Hello, thank you for watching the video. They still live on barges in cramped spaces for several days, weeks, even a month or more. They still have houses on the mainland, they will return home to rest for a few days and then continue to make a living on their barges.

Why do almost all of the boats have that red painting with an anchor on the bow. Is that a regulation or some kind of tradition?
