Awhile ago I mentioned how I started shiny hunting thanks to you inspiring me. Specifically black 2 Virizion. Well after a break I went hard on it Sunday. 998 resets later I got Blossom my pink Virizion. So I then went to ev train it for the first time in gen 5 for me. 24 encounters in a shiny Sandile. I went from 0 gen 5 shinies ever to 2 within a day.

Maractus is so underrated! It's adorable and has a really nice shiny! ✨️ Darumaka and Darmanitan are 2 of the only shinies I have left to collect for my full shiny living dex (I have about 25 left to get after around 7 years of hunting on many games with many different methods!) And Maractus is one of the few shinies in my living dex that I didn't find myself. I usually like to hunt everything myself but this shiny is special. :) Several years ago I starting dating a guy and he gifted me a set of tiny cacti on our second date. We ended up getting married, and Pokemon Sword and Shield released about a week after our wedding. He's not really a shiny hunter (he doesn't have the patience for it lol) but he spent a while hatching eggs and got a shiny Maractus in a Love ball for me 🥰 I called him Pumpkin and he's a very special shiny to me ^u^

Hey Matt, had an idea for a gauntlet. Getting lvl 100 before the first badge in x and y. No rare candies through pickup. Just see how fast you can do it by stacking as many multipliers as possible. I think it would be foreign traded, affection, and eventually unevolved for the modifiers. My best guess would be bidoof, although zigzagoon may also be viable, as they are both in the fastest available experience group. With all the modifiers I think you could get a few hundred experience per encounter, which wouldn't be too bad

I know this is a bit of a weird question, but when you show off your shinies (when you say "normal [opposing pokemon], shiny [pokemon you just caught]"), has the opposing pokemon ever been a shiny too? I know the odds are absurdly low, but you've caught and shown off so many shinies over the years that I wonder if that's ever happened.

Congrats for the shiny cactus! I didn't know that I needed a sword wielding Maractus in my life (although maracas would have been so funny!). What I find also funny is that in my White BQ I hunted for one shiny in Desert Resort, and, lo and behold, I found a Maractus (without Repel Trick). However, it was the longest hunt of that BQ (22k), and I would have really liked a Sigilyph. Oh well, at least Maractus is off my bucket list.

Congrats to finding Maractus! And about the visual glitch, when I started hunting Kyurem last month, I had these non shadow encounters a few times and checked if it was maybe an IV indicator, like the one in BDSP. Wasn't the case sadly. Would've been too good to be true.

I think you're confusing the Nest Ball with the Level Ball. The Level Ball is the one that goes off the difference between your level and the wild Pokémon's level. The Nest Ball just goes by the wild Pokémon. Congrats, though! Maractus is a sick Shiny! :)

About the "out of the shadow" glitch that you saw on your Darumaka encounter. I shiny hunted Roggenrola in wellspring cave for at least 20,000 encounters and saw the same glitch often. I caught every one that had this effect and each one was holding a hard stone. Maybe wild Pokemon with held items can get this glitch but who knows.
