My first Grand Underground shiny, found while I was not even counting encounters doing test captures!

That was actually a Greninja in disguise on your window, he was the secret last dark type statue you needed to make the underground yield a shiny. Very rare occurrence.

How fitting that Absol should appear in your Shining Pearl file. I haven't encountered any shinies in the underground yet, but I hope to do so... There are so many Pokemon I want to collect, and I love the method involved in underground hunting.

It seems to almost be a tradition for Matt to shiny hunt an Absol (if available) in each new game shortly after they are released ie. Crown Tundra DLC & BDSP. I suppose the using the term "new" to describe BDSP in relation to its release may have been a bit of a stretch, however XD.

Absol, I used to think Shiny Hunting was for weirdos and dorks, but thanks to you I've seen otherwise. you inspired me to shiny hunt Rayquaza so I could legitimately earn a Pokémon an ex-bestie gave me for my birthday, and I did in around 100-120 resets! I've got a nice tip to anyone who shiny hunts by hatching eggs. Go to Cycling Road near Eterna City there if you move one tile forward with the bike it counts as two steps. I hatched a shiny Girafarig there that I'm going to transfer to Voilet once the game comes out and once it has Home support.

Honestly, there should've been a week 1 buff on statues. I only got to the third badge because it was so unfun working for hours to get statues...only to notice hardly any change. It's even worse for shiny statues. IIRC, a single shiny statue only increases the chance of getting a shiny by...1. A single point. Really? SOS chaining cuts the shiny odds from 1/4096 to 1/1024. Masuda method lowers it to 1/500. Yeah, I don't think increasing the odds per statue by a single point is worth the vast amount of effort.
