The Raceway tracks from the N64 would fit well with Mario Kart Double Dash. I wished that Mario Kart Double Dash had all 16 Mario Kart 64 tracks like Mario Kart Super Circuit using all 20 Super Mario Kart tracks. That would pushed the game’s release year to 2004 for sure. I also wished that it had a single player VS Mode and Battle Mode. I would’ve played it a million times more.

N64 Royal Raceway will always be the best. Peach’s Castle is based on Super Mario 64 incarnation AND you get to explore the area without some kind of barrier blocking the area off.

As cool as the Mario 64 reference was in the original was (as someone who didn't hop into Mario Kart until DS), I can see why they moved the castle to a move visible place in 8. It's a neat nod to a sister project for the same system in 64 but otherwise it feels like it's too tucked away and randomly placed (not to mention for the Wii U specifically didn't have a Mario game that had a Peach's Castle you could visit). Also it was probably gated off in 8 because they didn't want to mess around with how Lakitu would work going out that way.
