That kitchen cabinet brought back memories. I was 7 years old and went looking for biscuits. I pulled down the middle part and the whole cabinet fell forward. Luckily the top of cabinet got wedged on the wall opposite and didn't fall on me. I was on the floor under the pull down part. My mum came running in fearing the worst. She was able to push it back to reveal an unharmed child. I never went looking for biscuits again 😅

Wow, everything is coming together, I love the way you are gradually making a new life after going back to your home town. It's so difficult to go back in time and find out that many people have passed away, that happened to me when people from my home town contacted me on facebook, I was excited and asked about everyone, then I found out that a lot of people had passed away. Anyway, unfortunately I think it hurts more because we grew up with these people although maybe they weren't family, but they were part of that amazing village/ town

That tree in flower may be a conker tree, l'm no gardener, l just remember trees looking like that from my childhood, knowing l would be climbing up and shaking the branches for conkers. I used to keep climbing to the near top, only the thinness of the branch prevented me from climbing to the very top. Most of the time, l judge it right.... Bit of a miracle l am here really, looking back.👍

We had a kitchenette in the 50s, mum decided it needed to go in the laundry which was small and filled with double troughs. Somehow she and a neighbour got it out of the kitchen down a step and into the laundry behind the door. It stayed there for years until laundry was renovated. Dad and uncle ended up taking door off to get kitchenette out! How mum got it in such a small space is still not known.

Buttercups, they've managed to spread everywhere around, but most people leave them untouched until the bees have found more food. I'm amazed at how much less people pay for plant starts, here it's 50% more with much less variety. Lavenders have once again become common, I prefer the Spanish Lavender for it's fragrance and growth. It's more horizontal than vertical, and it's a tough plant to lose.

Sean, you can use the cardboard to put on bare ground for no weeds. Cover with a little dirt and the cardboard draws worms and degrades into compost over time.

In America we have an antique kitchen cabinet called a “Hoosier cabinet”. Built in Indiana (thus the name Hoosier), they were popular in the 1930’s and 40’s. They stored baking supplies and had a pull out enamel work surface. They are so lovely! I have one in my vintage style kitchen that I refurbished. Love from Indiana! 💜💙

Good thing about building your own if you have a small garden is it can fit where you want it rather than a ready made one where you won't have space. Pallet wood! It's free, sturdy and yeah. I have something similar that I got from my mother years ago. It’s a roll-top cupboard with a pull out enamel work surface. I love it dearly but my mother failed to clean out the flour bin and my house has had pantry beetles ever since. XD As for gardening, I culled some of the turnip seedlings and the bed is still looking overcrowded. I might have to do more. My Japanese cucumbers have just sprouted and the same for my Blacktail watermelons. Nothing on the Van Doreen variety yet. Weirdly I only have one Sunchoke. No others have come up yet. They’re impossibly hardy but I have to wonder.

So nice to see a new video from your travels to town, and you're feeling more chipper. Your garden is filling out nicely. I Like you are adding the herbs...I just added more herbs also...found a lemon balm start and an orange mint and some garlic grass. Today between showers I harvested a bit of chives to wash and dry, to crush, later. Also had a plastic tote filled with toilet paper rolls cut in half standing up (42) topped off with seedling potting soil. Will plant them tomorrow with peas...then pop the lid on to keep the fungus gnats out till they sprout for garden.....I've got 2 rows comming up out in the garden but we've had a lot of rain showers and something is taking little bites out of them. As well as a burrowing mouse went down the row. You cant have too many peas....take care and plant on.
