Great job man. I hate when things fight you like that, but you told it who’s boss

You are making great progress and having some of the same problems that we all have some time or another. Staying determined, focused and not being discouraged will insure your success at completing this project. It is similar to a marriage, you don't give up because of a few problems. Once you are finished with this project what a sense of accomplishment you will have. Keep up the good work!

Progress is good. Run more heat when you use the copper backing plate as it sucks lots of heat away. You fixed the wheelhouse just like I would have. I was going to make the thumbnail for my torque box video but we had our second shot yesterday and we are both out of it today...
@GreaseRookie3 жыл бұрын
Hey Robert. I hope you’re well! I’ve heard the second shot can be rough. Rest up!

Nice to see ya back on it again! Ain't that the way things go? 1 step forward, 2 steps back.... that's how you know you're going the right way! hahaha. However i did notice how quickly you identified the problem and came up with a solution to fix it. Nice work Andrew! Keep it up, won't be too long now.

A suggestion on the ground clamp. clean a common spot to clamp the ground to it will help.

Good job. Though weld through primer is your friend. That's what it's made for.
@GreaseRookie3 жыл бұрын
Thanks James. I need to get a better quality weld through primer. The zinc stuff is terrible.

@@GreaseRookie Steel-It is a great option (it's pricey but worth it) if you are looking for some good protection.

This is very interesting. On my '67, there is this same mismatch between the outer wheelhouse and quarter panel, on the passenger side. My quarter panel and outer wheelhouse are original and have never been touched. When my car was being spot welded together, those two parts lined up exactly like yours did. The lip of the wheelhouse sticks out and got welded that way. I think I have a picture of it somewhere. It was so badly spot welded, I had to take my hammer and dolly to smooth out the curve in that wheel opening.

Good stuff Andrew, had the same issue with the passenger side on mine as well, go figure... Looks good ! 👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸

Andrew, keep your spirits up buddy. I agree with Brian Hilling below, once you get past this quarter panel the other work will proceed at a much faster pace. You will have the Iron 6 on the road before you know it. I got back from NC with my 1970 VW bus a few days ago. I now have 3 cars in my very full shop. BTW, did you guys get any turkeys on your hunting trip?
@GreaseRookie3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think you guys are right. I’m almost to the top of the hill with this project. Glad you got your VW! And yes, Kody and I both bagged turkeys in KY. It was tough hunting but we got it done. 👍

Dont worry about cosmetics with your welds. welds don't have to be pretty they just need to hold. Of they hold and are pretty it's a bonus. You should have seen the factory welds on my 64 dodge they looked worse than yours.

Andrew’s Girls: “Daddy take us for a ride.” Andrew: “Well Girls, daddy needs to put the passenger side rear quarter panel on the Mustang” Andrew’s Girls: “Then will it be ready?” Andrew: “Well girls I tell you what, when your old enough I’ll let your boyfriends help me finish the Mustang.”
