same here although back in the days i always liked the Repsol design fireblades , they look so cool , and this one here is so powerful , is the Öhlins suspension the only difference to the normal version ? i checked the honda website , i couldnt find any other differences but maybe i overlooked something , maybe some more drive modes ?

I have always said ... It's hard to break a Honda.. Years ago, I had a CB 750 and I couldn't break it , only once did it not start but it was only a fuse.

I've owned a 1996 CBR900RR (30k miles) and now i'm still riding my 2002 CBR954RR (45k miles) and have NEVER had to do anything to either one, besides oil changes and tires, but i'm finally replacing the cam chain tensioner and cam chain on the 954RR here in a few weeks to, hopefully, reduce some of that noise from poor tensioner adjustment...along with adjusting the valves while i'm at it.. I love my Honda Brand..very, very reliable, even if they did fall asleep on the Horsepower battle for the past decade...lol.

The HRC ECM (and wiring harness) is what is really needed to get full functionality of this bike. The HRC part is much more than an unlocked version of the OEM ECM. With it, you can MAP the fuel mixture for the new few flow exhaust, change tire and sprocket sizes, gain full control over the launch control, change the throttle limiter RPM range, etc. It is the first modification I plan to make to my CBR1000R-RR Fireblade along with the Akropovic Exhaust. The HRC ECM, and wiring harness run about $4,100 in parts (which is pretty reasonable for HRC parts) Installation requires removing the engine, reprogramming all the sensors. I am still putting together my 2017 SP2 with HRC power Up Kit (about $17,000 in parts and required engine mods (porting and valve job))

Same, I followed when the OG S1000RR was new cause I was looking into BMW's. I went with a K1200R and while IB never did anything with that bike, I decided to go with BMW after IB and other influence. Never regretted it.

Glad it seemed to work for you. When I got my akraprovic for mine they hadn’t supplied the servo plate and the fuelling was all off below 6000rpm. I since got rid of the bike but I’m really interested to see what you make of yours over the coming year 650lb ! Great content as always. Best from Ireland ! Incidentally British version of the bike has no mesh filter install or foam. You can ram your whole arm in the front of the bike. !

If I was you I won't do any long smackdown without a acu flash or power commander, that bike is gonna run SUPER lean without cat and oem silencer, O2 sensor adjust only +-10%, not enough with the free flowing exhoust. You can hear the ECU trying to rise the revs to compensate, revs cycle on sync to O2 sensor voltage cycle.

It'll be fine brother. The ECU has a reasonable range of adaptability, like most modern ECU's. A tune is preferable but not essential.

@@650ib put your baffle back in the exhaust, I lost 15-25hp on mine in the 4000-8000 range and the check engine light came on. The bike sounds amazing without the baffle, but until we have ecu access it's crap below 8k

Top tip...if your changing the oil filter cover the exhaust in bacofoil aka Tinfoil and you have very little mess to clean off at the end. 👍🏼

I've had mine up to 90 in first gear, but I've heard it'll do 100. 2nd gear tops out at 136ish, and I I've hit 152 in 3rd about 3k from redline. All on private roads/track of course 😜

That's the biggest compliant I've heard about the new Fireblade is it feels gutless before 7500 RPM. It's a lot like a Yamaha R6, all the power is in the top half of the RPM range. Makes sense because these bikes are supposed to be raced.

There is no ecu flash. This new gen of ecu is locked tighter than Fort Knox. Stuck at 186 HP at the crank, vs the EU full power 217. Sad.
