65w charger for ₱100 - is it true?

If it looks too good to be true, it usually is, even if the reviews say otherwise!
These 65w chargers were heavily promoted during the recent 3.3 sale, and in ongoing flash sales.
But in my testing, none of them even came close to what was promised.
I’m a big fan of online shopping, but with the flood of questionable reviews, the whole experience is starting to become very frustrating.

An easy way to demonstrate the problem with fake products is to search for something like "oppo 5g phone" and then look at the "sale prices" of P3,000 - P6,000 You'll see many 5 star reviews claiming that it's legit, that the seller is so nice, and even with a picture of the phone that you expected. But when you look through for the 1 star reviews, you find lots of people complaining that what they received is a random old android phone with 1gb of ram.

I am a desktop user for Lazada. They don't even have a report feature on the desktop it is infuriating. I have a 99p solar power bank on day 10 of its 'waiting to ship'. It is never going to ship it is a different kind of scam I believe. I believe this is a throwaway store created by a store that isn't participating in the sale. The throwaway store will never actually get paid and the money will all be refunded when the orders time out. All the throwaway store is meant to do is prevent you from buying a modestly discounted item from a competitors store. If a cheap reasonable solar power bank is 2000p and a good sale price is 1700p I can offer the same product for 299p knowing it will never ship. I have removed a significant portion of people from the buyers of the 1700p unit and after the sale if they really want it they will pay the 2000p price. There is no way to offer a power bank for 150p including shipping. The cost to ship it to the Philippines originally was more than 150p the cost to ship it to my door is more than 150p . The listing for my 99p solar power bank is gone, the seller page is gone it is obvious that this was a silly scam and yet Lazada hasn't canceled my item and processed the refund. Lazada is holding the money in their own accounts right now knowing full well it isn't theirs and they would never pay the seller at this point anyway. I think we need a channel simply for lazada pages that can't possibly be real if nothing else maybe it will shame Lazada into doing the right things and cleaning the mess up. While I am focusing on Lazada my experience is that Shopee is even worse when it comes to these insane fake listings.

An FNB48/FNB58 (or KM002C if you want the top of the line USB tester) can do a protocol detection that will tell you exactly what protocols are supported. ChargerLab definitely makes the best products but Fnirsi also makes a decent USB tester. The 58 is a pretty good upgrade over the 48 which is just PCB boards screwed together by standoffs. You can get the 58 for $40’ish and it’s a great investment. I have the same USB tester you have (but with the 65W electronic load attached) and it’s a great piece of testing equipment but it’s ~$10 or ~$20 with electronic load so I feel like buying the FNB58 and the load separately (seen it as cheap as $9 shipped) gives you a better tester IMO

Most of feedbacks from suspicious products are Bot reviews, this is why you should check the reviews and 1 star and 2 star rating because they are legitimate buyers. Also cheaper chargers using a substandard products with fake QC stickers and stay with your chargers provided by the manufacturers or trusted brands like Ugreen or Bavin (from their official stores). I'm interested on that USB voltage tester Gadget where I can buy one.

Another way for sellers to try and scam you is bait and switch. You see an item that has a suspiciously low price but the item actually has "variants" where the default variant is like an accessory with the low price and when you select the actual item, the actual price appears.

If you see fake reviews only then it means that the seller also not selling much of the item. I don't know if people buy chargers these days because every Android phone comes with a charger and popularity of extension cords with USB ports/chargers. I charge my phones through PC/laptop USB for almost ten years.😅 Shopee never fix these fake reviews/product listings despite me manually sending a complaint/report unlike Lazada.

some of the FAKE reviews contain Filipino words that are rarely use, for example: "nang makita ang pagsusuri ng produkto na ito" "ang mga larawan ay kaakit-akit" "sa kabutihang palad, hindi ito nabigo sa akin" "ito ay isang nakapagandang power bank, at gusto ko ito nang labis" in other words, masyadong matalinghaga yung salita na ginagamit, it's like it is translated using a Google Translate app/website

I recently bought an 18w fast charger and a type-c cable (WCP05 & CG29) from a brand called "Jaguar Electronics" which is advertised by some influencers. For 99 pesos, they advertised it as 18w fast charger which is cheaper than others. The packaging is decent and they issue receipt but the quality is very bad. It rarely fast charge my S10 even with my known fast charging cable. The type-c cable doesn't wanna work if a bit bend. I have a history with their powerbank which is bloated for just a week of use. They advertised it can do 5v 2.1a but in reality it barely can do 1a output and will just cut-off you get above it.😂

I agree. What you said about even when you raise a complaint to one this seller like for example in my case, I purchased at LAZADA a chest bag last December of last year and until now I didn't get the item. I've raised my concern at LAZADA but all they can tell me is coordinate with the seller which I did but seller always apologize and will just deliver the item. Till today, I haven't receive the item nor any message from the seller. I have complaint to LAZADA hoping they would mediate but seller is still there, still getting 5 stars on the bag. I really hope you wont encounter the same scenario and I hope DTI can do something about this kind of sellers

I think 75% of the reviews might be legitimate but from buyers that have NO CLUE what fast charging protocols are. So they don’t have any way of measuring it’s performance, just a subjective “wow my phone charged fast” when a test between a known 5V2A charger and the new one would show an identical charge speed.

Yeah I always keep my original chargers. I used to be into multi-port chargers but it seems like there's a tendency for one or more of the ports to stop working after awhile. And then you have the charging dance where if one device is plugged in, it outputs X watts, but if two are plugged in, then it's shared, or it depends on which port etc etc. So now I just use a powerstrip with multiple original chargers instead.

They even advertise GaN which not many people know about. TLDR, GaN means more efficient in power delivery to your device. This just shows how fast our technology has progressed and a lot of people are having a really hard time catching up that people will just read the header and if it sounds good, many will take it which also explains why we have a lot of fake products online. Ultimately, it's the consumer's responsibility and if they are not sure about the product, instead of buying it, ask some questions. Do some research. That way, your hard earned money goes where you want it to be.

The first thing I would ask is whether you're using a cable that is marked as supporting higher wattage, e.g. 65w PD cable. The next question is whether the charger you bought has specific support for the S24 Ultra... Because I just Googled it now and found this: "the way Samsung goes about it is through a relatively specific implementation of the PPS protocol of the USB Power Delivery standard. The result is that if you use any other charger that isn't the Samsung 45W charger, you're likely going to be getting lower charging speeds"

If I did have a tester to prove it, I would be able to get a refund from aliexpress. When people buy it cheap, they won't have high expectations. As long as it works, nobody cares. Also, 65 watts could mean the combined power of all the ports if all used simultaneously. 18w x 3 = 54w, close enough to 65 watt. It's cheap, so let's not nitpick. Go look at the big name electronics companies and you’ll see you can’t get that much amperage and wattage in an electronic load under $800…usually they are in the $1200USD range. Even a 400W/40A Kunkin is $200+ and has no four wire measurement. Now does my electronic load have all the fancy features of a Keysight, Rigol, B&K etc. No. but it will discharge a battery at 600W/40A with CC, CP, CR, CV etc. You can absolutely find hobbyist level products for very very good prices on places like Ali.
