The 6U8, 6EA8 and 6GH8 are all very similar triode pentodes (if I remember correctly, they share the same pinout), and may be good substitutes for the 7199 after suitable socket rewiring. 6U8 and 6GH8 were used in some classic Scott and Fisher hifi receivers and amplifiers. New-old-stock examples are generally inexpensive and should be relatively easy to find.

Can you tell me how to set up the on/off and standby switches like you've done here? I'm working on a G15 (schematic date: 1-66). I'm confused by the pilot light wiring. I've still got my Vox AC30/TB which I bought thru Thomas Organ in 1965. I got drafted in '66 and my amp disappeared for 20 years til a cousin told me he had it in a storage shed. It was blowing fuses due to an arcing tube socket. I couldn't find any one locally to work on it so I started educating myself with Army Navy manuals. There wasn't much tube amp info in the 80's, not like there is now. I built an AC4 amp (with the EF86 tube) and a Fender 59 tremolux 5E9-A. My band, The Other Half, opened for the Doors in '65 in a small club off Sunset Blvd. Later shared a stage with The Yardbirds and Them (Van Morrison) at the Santa Monica Civic auditorium.

I hear Muscle Shoals may have had a Gemini with a JBL in it, so maybe more Stonsey that you thought.

Hello. Great video! I was wondering, can this amp be used with a Universal Audio Ox Box? If so, does it need any modifications or does it have everything it needs? Thanks so much!

Lots of room to do work inside that chassis, compared to the early 70's dead VT40 a fella gave me 25 years ago--THAT was a horror. Couldn't get my meat mits in there at all, circuit board had snapped and power trans was toast...evidently it had fallen out of a truck and was a lost cause.
