The speed odometer cable issue can be solved by doing the following. Crawl under the car and disconnect the speed odometer cable from the transmission, then push the cable up towards the engine bay, keep pushing the slack towards the instrument cluster, now as you pull out the instrument cluster the speed odometer cable will not resist. I have done what I describe above several time, it sure does beat doing it the hard way.

Another thought, if you intend to pull out the instrument cluster, its a great time to replace or clean the instrument cluster lens. I just replaced my lens and they look fantastic.

No, since I was in there already I put the new one in. No sense in having to get back in there a year down the road.

@@dondoes4303 my gauge started acting up today. I’m hoping it’s fixed itself tomorrow! I’m definitely hoping it’s not my alternator or voltage regulator
