@@rvpstudioscanada3991 they couldn't be placed back on with other chimpanzees because of the diseases they would spread to the healthy ones I did a little digging on the research that went into these chimpanzees most of them had already had cases of hepatitis and the research was being conducted to find cures and ways to hepatitis it just so happens chimpanzees are the only primates that have the ability to contract the disease.

They already said in the video, during the dry season their isnt any fresh water and the surrounding water is too salty to drink and you would have to plant thousands of trees to feed them. 1 adult could eat all the fruit off 1 tree in a day or two.. so with 10+ chimps on the island you would need a shitton trees for them all to eat and stay eating

11:50 , all the previous chimps were killed for the most part you said close to the beginning of the video. 63 left and there were 400 something. Why not let them try to reproduce to their original numbers ? Eventually some offspring would most likely survive without the caretakers because of what the older chimps would have learned from humans during this time of being fed everyday, like what foods to look for on the islands etc.
