We have a 540c too. Love it. Power wise its retty much thesame like the 570s. The drivetrain is really good, people saying its just a 500+bhp car.... But they forget its a twin turbo 3.8L v8! Small issues are common, fixing stuff gets pretty expensive tough.. With a small tune its more like 700bhp. Its very lovely to drive, always fun. Dont expect luxury, just expect some fun. The steel brakes are good enough. Also, better for everyday driving, the ceramic brakes are better ofourse but they come with a price tag, good for track days but when using at as a daily its not optimal. We have the car for over a year now, was a 10k repair needed, the steering fluid reservoir leaked into the ECU connector. Needed some replacements. Some small repairs and the periodical check up. But it was done by a official dealer. (Louwman exclusives) they are reasonably priced. Good guys out there.

@@DzasterNL great feedback! If the car was within warranty, why did you have to pay 10K to get it repaired? That s odd! I like the style of the 540 more than any other models as everything is balanced. I found the other models to be either too narrow, not wide enough from the rear, too short front or a combination of all these. Have fun man!

@@StefBelgium im sorry, I didnt get the notification of your reply. Its a lovely car to drive, more than enough power and yes, the styling is much better than the 720s for example. Well, it was a gamble to continue the warranty period for 3000,- a year. We didnt extend the warranty since not everything is covered. I doubt this problem was covered by the warranty. It is more the mechanical aspect like the gearbox etc. But.. If it is just wear and tear it's not a warranty thing. All in all it was expensive but the car is in top condition now. Just drive easy for the first 15-20 km's to warm up the car. The dash shows the car warming up but the gearbox needs the most time. Overall alot of satisfaction of this car even tough the high costs. We had some Porsches and a Ferrari 360 before but this is the one that's most special. Lot of heads turning, people taking videos etc. Feels almost like a moviestar. Gets boring after 20 minutes to be honest, also, cant park the car everywhere since people touching it while making photos... That's was the bad part but its somewhat a luxury to have these complains. So I don't complain😉

the way a wing works is not that itself pushing the car down by the wing but creating an appropriate air flow and differences in air speed/pressure that pushes the body of the car down... it is like an airplane wing but reversed.

I have to admit: I had the chance to ride shotgun in a McLaren 720s at a motor show in 2023. The experience was insane, no doubt about that, but something about it just felt a bit off in terms of security. I couldn't fully relax in the passenger seat, even though we didn’t push anywhere near the V-max or tap into the car’s full acceleration potential. I think it’s because I daily drive a BMW M5 F90, which is a lot heavier and has a more planted, stable feel. The extra weight in the M5 just gives me a stronger sense of security, which I found lacking in the much lighter McLaren. Funny how the driving dynamics and weight distribution can make such a difference, right?

Nice review, here's also my 2 cents about this car: When one thinks about McLaren, thoughts of Formula 1 engineering, blistering speed, and precision handling arise. But with this 666-horsepower version, the 540C-which has long held the mantle of being McLaren's "entry-level" supercar-breaks free from such characterizations. With a heftier dose of power, improved air flow, and aggressive redesign, the result with this breed of the McLaren 540C is simply electrifying. Following is a closer look at what this beast offers: Design: Low, Wide, and Sinister The McLaren 540C has always been slick and purposeful, but this 666 HP edition really turns it on. That doesn't mean its sentinel stance begrudges safety: sharp lines, wide stance, an aggressive front fascia all make this car look like it's ready to pounce even while standing still. The front features that signature McLaren nose with sleek LED headlights, reminiscent of the eyes of a predator. Air intakes are broader than those in earlier versions, giving a more sinister face while providing efficient cooling to manage that fierce engine. These flowing lines at the front seamlessly make their ways through to the sculpted side panels, which channel air with precision to the rear for downforce and cooling. The rear is dominated by an active rear wing, larger diffusers, and a dual-exit exhaust, making the back-end look even more menacing. The 666 HP 540C sits on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, wrapped in sticky Pirelli P Zero tires, enhancing both grip and the visual presence. Powertrain: Devilishly Fast Now, the headline feature-under the hood, the 666 HP McLaren 540C has the same 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 as its sibling but with one vital difference: it's tuned to deliver a devilish 666 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. One need not look further than the sheer explosiveness of this powertrain to attest to McLaren's engineering mastery. Weighing just 2,900 pounds, this car rockets from 0 to 60 mph in a heart-stopping 2.8 seconds. Power delivery is sharp and linear, with all the torque coming on board at a relatively low 3,500 RPM-meaning that even at partial throttle, the 540C feels energetic, eager. McLaren's 7-speed dual-clutch transmission does an effortlessly brilliant job of shifting gears faster than a blink. Whether hammering it on the track or just cruising down the highway, shifts come off seamless, responsive, and completely attuned to your throttle inputs. Performance: Precision Engineering While certainly power is half the battle for a supercar, it's handling that provides the other. And here is where McLaren's racing heritage really pays off. The 540C is fitted with McLaren's Proactive Chassis Control system for great balance and poise. This will make one feel fantastically agile inside the car, almost telepathically responding to every steering input. What's truly breathtaking, though, is the way corners are consumed with the 540C. Through corners, it basically sticks like glue-like razor-sharp, impressive turn-in with heaps of grip. The engineers at McLaren have fiddled with the suspension so that ride comfort and handling sharpness blend perfectly in balance. And it also offers good support for the suspension magic to take place when combined with minimum flex from the carbon fiber tub chassis. This will give a driver total confidence, whether slicing through a technically designed circuit or at triple-digit speeds on a very long straight. Braking performance is equally exciting. Carbon-ceramic units in the brakes of 540C bite with huge force but never exhibit any kind of fade, even under intense, repeated braking on the racing circuit. Pedal feel is firm and full of communication, allowing for acute modulation during pressing-matters driving. Interior: Minimalism Meets Luxury You step inside, into a 540C cabin that is decidedly focused on the driver. Deriving from McLaren's pretty minimalistic approach to interior design, this new model certainly doesn't repel such an idea. The uncluttered dashboard was clean, really centered around a digital driver's display that gives all the information one needs, from speed to performance data. The materials are first class: Alta fibre, carbon fibre, and leather throughout the interior speak to luxury. Yet it's not ostentatious-McLaren favors functional over lavish. Seats are slim, firm, and well-bolstered-the better to hold you during hard cornering-not particularly comfortable for long-distance cruising but adequate enough for a weekend road trip. One of the things which has to be noticed is that the 540C does not come with much of the tech that one would expect in a car at this price. It has almost a basic feel to it, where all functions are controlled from the small touchscreen, be it anything from the built-in navigation to climate control. It gets the job done, but don't expect the kind of advanced tech interface you'd find in a Ferrari or Lamborghini. But let's be honest, when you're driving a car like this, you don't pay much attention to a screen. Soundtrack: A Symphony of Speed If the sleek styling and stunning performance of the 540C didn't make you feel like you were driving a demon on wheels, the sound would. The 666 HP version features a new boldly tuned exhaust that bellows, pops, and crackles at every throttle blip. At low revs, it growls throatily, but as the revs climb higher, it transforms into a banshee-like wail that can send shivers down your spine. It's an auditory experience that perfectly matches the car's aggressive persona. Practicality: Who Cares? Careful not to expect practicality in a McLaren, though. The 540C does manage to be a bit more usable than the other cars in the range. The front trunk-or "frunk," if you prefer fancy neologizing-will hold a weekend bag, and there are a few cubbyholes in the cabin for personal effects, but if you're after more ability to haul groceries or pick up the kids from school, this isn't the car for that. Fuel economy, as you might expect, is a bit of farce-about 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. But really, who cares when you're putting down 666 horsepower? Final Thoughts: A Supercar to be Worshipped Here is the 2024 McLaren 540C-a 666 HP edition. This supercar really rolls out itself on every frontier: velocity, handling, design, and plain driving thrills. There's a certain moderation to it that some of its Italian rivals perhaps go berserk with; however, it makes up with a substance so uniquely focused on driving. Packing more power, more aggression, and more thrills than ever-this "baby" supercar from McLaren has been injected with all that. If you are looking for a high-performance machine that provides the driver with pure, uncut driving excitement without all the superfluous features, the McLaren 540C 666 HP edition should be at the top of your list. The car is going to induce respect but pay the driver back with the chill-inducing travel as perfectly as a supercar could do it.
